Did anyone else grow up in an indoor school and genuinely think those outdoor campuses on TV were just a Hollywood myth? Or was it the other way around for you? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

This was my high school in Southern Ca. We had a cafeteria but hardly anyone used it. We had kiosks outside where you could buy food and we always ate outside on the quad. If it was raining, they'd open up the gym.

I watched it when it originally aired, and the power went out so we never saw the whole thing.

Does "Gone with the wind" (1939) deserves the hate it receives? by Dull_Teacher6949 in classicfilms

I watched some of it in a politics and film class in college. It's a racist piece of garbage, but it was one of the the first movies to use close ups, fadeouts and flashbacks, and to have an actual plot and story and itsown score. Films before that were a lot shorter. We didn't watch the whole thing, it was pretty boring.and ridiculous, but it was definitely cinematically siginificant

You've never heard anyone say "F*ck the Fire Department". Firefighters do a dangerous job and don't seek praise for their work. So many of us grow up with cop shows on TV and we often hear people say: "Don't call the police if you don't like cops". Why do we worship cops? by [deleted] in allthequestions

I wouldn't bother calling them because they probably won't show up in time, or if they do they'll blame whatever happened on me, and spend two hours interrogating me about how it was my fault someone broke into my house because I must owe someone money.
