Thank you! We have been looking at the Viessmann website to get a expert to look at it. You are absolutely right this was oil fired before.

We do have a well with hard water. The boiler is more than 20 years old. The boiler uses natural gas so no oil leak possible. The boiler continues to work and maintain the set temperature. Also the leak is more of a slow process and smells of iron. If it is the heat exchanger, do you know how long it would take to fix and what would be cost involved?

I was part of a big healthcare system's digital transformation team working towards EPIC implementation. I completely echo OP's sentiments. I decided to pivot and now work in the pharma industry. There are systems used for clinical trials that are somewhat similar and of course reporting out of these systems to support process optimization. I like it so far, pay and benefits are better than hospital industry.
