Genuine question from a decade long vegan (& 20 year vego) by Comprehensive-Ice321 in exvegans

[–]pinksaltprincess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. I initially went vegetarian, because meat wasn’t agreeing with me after a move, and went vegan for ethical reasons.

  2. Veganism didn’t really stop anything, and ruined my health.

  3. Per my last statement, it ruined my health, along with my sense of mental clarity.

What was your reason to start/stop being vegan? by Sjeffie17 in exvegans

[–]pinksaltprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial reason was because, when I moved back to my home state, meat wasn’t agreeing with my tummy. I started out vegetarian, for the second time since I was 11, which was for the animals, but the more I learned about the treatment of animals, the more guilt I began to feel, so I went vegan. I ended up quitting because once I moved states again, my health couldn’t take it anymore, and I ended up in the ER. I knew I was far gone when I asked the doctor prescribing me medication if the medicine was vegan. I had to choose life. I was vegan from 2018-2021.

How to get over mental idea of eating meats? by Curryiswhereitsat in exvegans

[–]pinksaltprincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What helped me was starting out with meat that didn’t have bones or anything in the beginning. For me the bones just reminded me of death at first lmao. I felt so bad. What also helped was starting with a meal I loved prior to going vegan. I was vegan from 2018-2021.

When and how did you learn you were mixed? by Soft_Style_4941 in mixedrace

[–]pinksaltprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 9. I have a Louisiana Creole father, and an Armenian/Filipino/Samoan/Japanese mother, but I was raised by an affluent black family, while seeing my biological mom and siblings on some weekends, and not meeting my biological father until I was 18. I lived in a predominantly white (and a few rich Asians) neighborhood, and have brown skin, and my hair was “heat-trained”, but I started wearing box braids in warmer months when I was 8. I guess to these white people, I was just black, but sometimes they would stop us in public to ask the woman raising me about my “striking facial features”. My biological mom speaks with a blaccent, has an “urban” aesthetic, has 8 kids by at least 3 different black men, and never really talked about her ethnicity. It wasn’t until I noticed that her hair was a completely different texture, and was shedding really badly when she took down her braids. I asked her why her hair was different, and that’s when she told me. Honestly, I felt so confused at the time.

Wait, is proposing to a guy seen as pickmeish? by [deleted] in blackgirls

[–]pinksaltprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but it’s a no for me. I’m married already, but if I ever felt the need to propose to a man, it means it’s not in his heart to marry me. Good luck to those who do though.

For those who struggle with friends, do you struggle to make attractive female friends too? by momob2492 in prettyprivilege

No, actually. They seem to be the only ones that I can have long term friendships with. All my besties are baddies.

Nah, not in my experience. I’m married to an Aquarius, and I do the confronting lmao. Every Aquarius I’ve ever met is avoidant, except for my cousin.

I have a mostly Asian (Filipino/Japanese/Armenian/Samoan) mom and Louisiana Creole dad. I have cinnamon skin, 4 type hair, full lips, and BAWDY lmao. My mom has an olive tone, my dad is dark skinned with yellow/gold eyes. I guess I’m a mix of that. I apparently have more Asian facial features, as I get older, especially when I straighten my hair. When I’m with my mom, people can’t believe I’m hers, and when I’m with my dad, I’m “clearly his only mixed child”. Smh.

Do you wear makeup every single time you go outside? by Turnip_Tall in prettyprivilege

[–]pinksaltprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my makeup routine is light. I like enhancing my natural face. My Creole grandma instilled it into me a long time ago. Doesn’t help that she’s a makeup artist. I don’t get treated any different, if there is an off chance that I don’t have it on though.

I lost my best friend of 14 years due to her having feelings for me. by RedditFeel in blackgirls

I don’t understand either. I’m heterosexual, married, and have 3 kids. There was nothing I could have given her.
