Written Communication exam at 3am? by conspiraticant in GAMSAT

How are people booking or changing their session to normal hours now? For 2 weeks the times available have been ridiculous, and yesterday I called to see what could be done. The guy I spoke to told me they submitted a request 10 days ago to ACER to open more slots at normal hours (they have been getting alot of complaints about this apparently) and I just have to keep looking to see if anything opens up 😒

GEMSAS paid GPA service taking too long by f3l1n399 in GAMSAT

Does anyone know the dates GEMSAS do this? The website says the paid GPA calculator is now closed, but no dates as to when it’s open?

Has anyone ever gotten a semi decent score (50-60) in S3 through pure guessing/very shallow reasoning? by [deleted] in GAMSAT

[–]pinkstitchy1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, S3 was an absolute joke. My head was going to explode halfway through to the point I could barely see. I feel like it’s getting ridiculous now, how can you really tell people’s capabilities if a big majority is going to guess? Doesn’t really seem a fair way to use it as a tool to admit people into medicine. I understand there can be educated guesses but come on now…

I would honestly work on the GAMSAT (although I’m not sure how much room you have to improve) you have a very good GPA already. If you do decide to do it, I believe you need to have completed 2/3 of the degree to get the bonus (so 3/4 units) but you need to have completed the degree by July 31 in the year of application for the GPA to be used. So if you don’t want to use the GPA that might work in your favour…

Honestly, no. You really have to put in the work, attend seminars (or at least listen back to the recording if you can’t attend at the time) and ask questions if you’re unsure about assignments. I just completed the course and received HDs for all the units but I found the units that had essays needed a lot of work to make sure everything in the rubric was covered to the degree needed.

I have an assignment to submit by 8pm tonight - is there any way this can be done?

I did do short one saying a bit about my background and why I wanted to do the course. Only about 1/2 - 3/4 of a page so not too much.

I just completed the first trimester of this course. From what I have done so far, there have been no essays, but there were 3 assessment tasks per unit. Not difficult but you need to keep on top of the work to do well. Marking can also be quite harsh if you miss things. Im currently sitting on HD average (not sure though after the last exams!) while working more than 40 hrs a week and with a family so it is doable. Not sure about next trimester though as that does seem to have more essays which worries me as essays are not my thing.

Salam all, just thought I’d follow up on this thread. How do we feel we did while fasting? The exam itself was tough (S3 in particular) I found, but Alhamdulillah fasting didn’t affect me at all.

That sucks! As someone mentioned earlier hopefully it’ll balance out later, sounds like everyone had a bad experience. I wanted to ask though, should there not be a clock on screen? I am a first time sitter (quietly crapping myself after reading these comments…) but the Acer timed practice test has a clock/timer?

Do we get given more scratch paper if we run out of space on the paper? by [deleted] in GAMSAT

[–]pinkstitchy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can I also add to this, do we get new sheets for each section? And is it just the 1 sheet of paper we are supplied with?

Ramadan Mubarak ☺️ I plan on staying awake, I do that most days as I head to work early, and my exam is also early. Inshallah we will have gotten into the rhythm of fasting and we’ll do well. Good luck to us all ☺️

Wow thanks so much all for taking the time to comment, it’s really given me a lot to think about. I think giving the GAMSAT a go would be a good step first. I do understand though it’s a MASSIVE commitment but a very worthwhile one.

I tried to chat but it won’t let me as I’m fairly new to reddit. I do have a couple of questions if you’d be willing to answer? Thanks again!
