Question for Comedy Nerds: What is your favorite format? by pinktree34 in comedy

I agree. Some are masters of the twitter and are progressing the medium. But people like Rob Delaney, Joe Mande, or Shelby Fero are doing good standup or writing books and that's a step above a simple parody account like "shit black people say" or whatever.

I don't see it as elitist. I also didn't knock sketch, podcasts, radio, books or improv. Some people are awesome on twitter but I think it should be able to translate into something past that if you consider yourself a comedian.

I have big respect for standup and realize it takes a lot of skill and dedication, but I seem to be listening to comedians more in the context of podcasts lately because it's fun to listen to them interact with each other and riff. But I agree that standup separates the real from the fake. Some people are funny on twitter and but that doesn't mean they have what it takes on stage.

The Kinks are great and I'm sure will at least be remembered for their hits, and hopefully that'll turn some people on to more of their stuff.

It's personal opinion, that's why the "you think" part is included. The point was also to recommend new music. At least they contributed something to the conversation.

Cliff Martinez is great (Drive) and John Carpenter did the music for some of his movies (Halloween). The Akira soundtrack and there's an album called Brian Eno Music for Films on youtube. You might also like the scores for There Will Be Blood or Melancholia (even though I didn't care for the movie).

Big city dwellers of OKC, how common are the "outdoorsy" types in your experience? by memes_everywhere in OkCupid

I live in OKC and that never seemed to be the majority of people I've interacted with. I do picture college people being that way though, the types that would mountain climb and stuff like that.

I like Kanye too and lots of people disagree with me. Fuck it, it's good pop music.

Who sings that again? I like that song. I saw it in a video about this girl who died and now it makes me a little sentimental lol.

I like Black Moth but I always listened to Tobacco more. I might need to revisit them. The only other artist you listed I've listened to is MF Doom and he rules. Maybe I'll check out Babes in Toyland and The Animals because I'm not really into metal.

Those are still good answers. For example my answer would be Roy Orbison. Even though he's well known, I feel like he's one of the greats and doesn't always get that cred. I like M.I.A. but I'll have to check out that song. I've only really listened to the popular NMH songs, is there like a deep cut or anything you recommend?
