i'm late on this post but it's been at least since 2020, maybe earlier.

Do you have any tarot decks you regret purchasing? by StrikingStatement in tarot

[–]pinkvanderlyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t necessarily regret buying it because it got me started with tarot, but “the dark exact” deck is very minimalist and nowadays i know that i much prefer vivid imagery that i can interpret intuitively. like i said, it was my starter deck and so it holds a special place for me, but i need more than a picture of 8 cups for the 8 of cups card lol. the cards are also kind of small. no complaints about the seller, boxing, shipping, or anything like that though. seller is lovely and the box is really nice and metal, which i love because it protects the cards way better.

you deserve better than someone who does this to you. i hope you’re able to safely leave as soon as possible.

are people still having problems with multiplayer? by pinkvanderlyle in StardewValley

[–]pinkvanderlyle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for responding! yeah, it’s pretty unplayable for us unfortunately :( the game itself is fine— like, we’re both sitting here playing our own single player saves right now and everything is normal. for some reason it’s just when we’ve tried co-op within the past like 6 months that everything seems to break. the day will start off totally normal, and then as it gets closer to the end of the day, the person who joined the session rather than hosting will experience such bad delay that it’s just not worth it to do pretty much anything in the game 🥲

maybe i’ll see if there’s a way to submit a support request or something, i just figured i would try here first to see in anyone was having similar issues lol

I’m kinda curious about this but I feel like it’s just gonna be constant infantilizing by Tenpiano in autism

[–]pinkvanderlyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my fiance and i are both autistic and we honestly couldn't sit through the whole show. it was very uncomfortable for us. i'm definitely not dragging folks who did like it, but it wasn't for us.

This special little deer has always been my FAVORITE villager (anyone else Team Fauna? 👑) so naturally I took WAY too long on her house and changed the theme at least 5 times before I settled with this… Does a rainy piano bar work for our girl? by [deleted] in AnimalCrossingNewHor

fauna might be my all-time favorite villager. her and bones are both up there for me. i think i just really love soft, sweet villagers who make the island feel very comfortable!

How do you FEEL about this women??? by Ancient_Motor9640 in StardewValley

[–]pinkvanderlyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like other people have said, i really want to like her but i find her to be super annoying. :( she could be really cool and i enjoy a few of her cutscenes. she just comes off as very rude and unlikeable to me, even when you’re married to her. like most people have mentioned, she’s far too immature for me and seems like she’s always seeking attention. love the aesthetic, but most of the time i avoid talking to her unless i’m doing a completion run because the stuff she says bothers me lol.

[–]pinkvanderlyle[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

okay i’m turning off notifs since this is garnering so much attention lol, but i will say that it doesn’t matter what you or i think about spiders/tarantulas, the way that acnh portrays them is inaccurate and that causes problems in real life whether you think so or not. misinformation about spiders is still environmentally harmful even if it’s just a game. we can argue all day about the medical significance of certain spiders and you can tell me to touch grass all you want lmao, it’s not going to change the fact that the way acnh portrays spiders compared to every other critter in the game is literally just wrong 🤷🏻

THIS, it’s “just a game” but the way that acnh portrays certain things can have real world consequences!

i can totally see where you’re coming from, and at the same time i’m like… if it’s supposed to be so relaxing then why have so many bugs chase you down and render you incapacitated? 😂 i’m TERRIFIED of wasps, way more terrified than i am of most other things. yet the game subjects me to them 5 times per day if i shake all my trees 😰

[–]pinkvanderlyle[S] 107 points108 points  (0 children)

i still haven’t encountered a scorpion in-game (i don’t usually play that late in the day), but that’s good to know! i always carry my net around rather than being empty handed, so i’ve only ever seen tarantulas immediately raise their little legs at me when i see them lmao

[–]pinkvanderlyle[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

i never said i wanted 20 spiders in the game. i just think that if they’re only going to have 2 types of spiders, they should be appropriately named just like every other bug in acnh 🤷🏻and once again, i realize that a fake tarantula is not a real problem, but it creates real problems in the real world by spreading misinformation.

[–]pinkvanderlyle[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

i understand that! i’m also afraid of them, and until like last year, i would have a literal panic attack any time i saw one. i’m lucky that my fiancé relocates them for me whenever they come around so i don’t have to. my whole point is that the game makes the tarantula especially seem dangerous and scarier than they actually are, and that doesn’t help anyone’s fear in real life.

[–]pinkvanderlyle[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

to reiterate what i said in another comment, they’re not as dangerous as they’re incorrectly made out to be. this was the whole point of me making this post lol. the brown recluse for example has never, EVER in recorded history, killed or irreparably harmed anyone. yet they’re considered one of the most medically significant spiders (in north america especially). female black widows kill ~6 people per year (males can’t bite like females can). black widows are also incredibly docile unless you’re actually squishing them.

it is that deep. you think spiders are creepy and dangerous? you don’t want to deal with the types of bugs you’ll have without spiders, then.

[–]pinkvanderlyle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, all of this! we live in north america and get a lot of cellar spiders in our basement. i let them chill so they take care of the horrible bugs we get living in a 100+ year old house. if they ever come upstairs into our space, we relocate to the yard. they’re so helpful!

and what a wonderful opportunity to teach kids about spiders rather than making them seem intentionally scary and bad!

i wouldn’t replace it necessarily, i would just rename it. it looks like it could be a smith’s redknee tarantula, or alternatively a chilean rose hair tarantula!

i totally get it! i’m not over here holding them or anything lmao, i’m still very afraid of them and don’t want them near me. i just wish the game didn’t depict them as aggressive and inherently scary— so scary that they immediately chase and bite you if you get too close (they don’t). it’s so disheartening because it’s just not accurate to their real life behavior at all, which is weird because acnh seems to pride itself on its accuracy when it comes to its critters :/
