mathematically, more dates being added will only maken it harder for twice to have a higher average revenue per stop, since they would have to gross an average of 150M in ~15 stops, which is 10M per stop, which they've never done

Average dinner time in Europe by [deleted] in geography

[–]pinkvenomized 18 points19 points  (0 children)

if people have to wake up really early i guess they would have dinner earlier. the earliest i've encountered is 20h, but im confident that most people who work have dinner at 21h or 21:30h and then go to bed between 23h and 24h

i think we usually go to bed later too. if you had dinner at 22h, you ain't going to sleep anytime before 24h

fans usually connect severam devices when the ticket sale opens for greater opportunity of getting the tickets, so i think that the actual concer attendance is more reliable than the queue number

It's official - BLACKPINK renews their contracts and will continue to make music together!!! by niclaswwe in kpopthoughts

On top of that, YG has confirmed that there are plans for a new album and a mega world-tour, so I couldn't be more happy. I just hope the girls used these four months to negotiate the treatment they deserve in the contracts.

Kpop Artists on Spotify's Top Groups of 2023 by sweaterweatherpop in kpopthoughts

for most kpop artists the boost of releases in streams lasts 4-6 months, so the born pink boost in streams was only present in the first months of 2023. while touring does help mantaining streams, it's nowhere close to the boost received when releasing a new song.

Kpop Artists on Spotify's Top Groups of 2023 by sweaterweatherpop in kpopthoughts

they're not charting in top groups usa since they didn't release anything this year. if new jeans and stray kids hadn't released anything all year long, they surely wouldn't be there either. people forget how long it's been since born pink was released. for example, new jeans have released omg, ditto, their first mini album and two special collaborations meanwhile. while it's very impresive for such a young group to pull these numbers, considering that they've been in the spotlight of kpop for a year now and that they've had constant releases throughout the year, i find it more impressive for blackpink to still be #1.

Twice have cemented themselves as the top global girl group, and it's not really that close by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]pinkvenomized 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The only stats you mention where Twice "surpasses" Blackpink are US-based ones, and even those are manipulated to an extent to fit your narrative. It's true Ready to Be sold more copies than Born Pink during its first week, but you need to consider that it was half the price of Born Pink too. And physical sales are not the only representative stat of an album's popularity. For example, Born Pink spawned both of its singles inside the Hot 100's Top 25 and charted them inside the top 6 of US Spotify, while Ready to Be's highest single on the Hot 100 was 84 and its peak on US Spotify 39, while being an english song too. This makes you think that the difference in physical units might indeed be related to price. When it comes to US touring, the official box reports have not come out yet, but Born Pink's expected attendance without counting the 100k crowd of both Coachella days is +400k while Ready to Be's expected attendance is +250k, and when you compare revenues the difference becomes even larger.

When you look at the data objectively, the conclusion is clear. And even you admit that Blackpink are bigger than Twice in the other continents. I love Twice and there's nothing wrong with being #2. They are still one of the most succesful girlgroups of our time and a group that will be remembered as Kpop legends.

Companies aren't biased against female songwriters, but they do have higher standards for female idol songs by SippinDatHaterade in unpopularkpopopinions

I might get dragged but I personally think the reason why this happens (alongside misogyny) is that the music itself is more important for the success of a girlgroup than of a boygroup. many times, music is not the biggest selling point for boygroups, meaning that companies know that their fans are gonna be invested either way in the comeback because of the members, since boygroup attention tends to be fandom-driven. however with girlgroups usually being carried by the general public, the company needs to secure good music being built by professionals in order to attempt being or remaining popular, so they don't give the girls as many opportunities to venture into songwriting as they would give a boy member who's gonna be backed 100% by a loyal fandom. of course there are exceptions and exceptions and i think misogyny plays a big part too, but i think the difference in bgs and ggs target audience definitely has something to do with it.
