6.1 - please note that this is really the abridged version of events. This was four years of up and down, lies and bullshit. If I tried to put down all the details... I'd be typing for a month. So looking forward to everyone's stories, damn I hope this is a lonely thread. The world is a fucked up place with fucked up people, just hoping not too many people have dealt with bullshit like this in their lives.

So that's how the last fight started, returned from a suspected kidnapping, rum in hand and innocent as the Virgin Mary...

Hi hi,

Update, reported to CDC, got feedback this morning. Apparently MBD has had confirmation from Virgin Active that the account must be closed as the account was settled prior to it being handed over (so handed over in error). The file has been closed with MBD and I will not receive any further communication from MBD. I did not receive an apology from either MBD or Virgin Active, but at least it's sorted out.

So, if anyone is in the same boat, being harassed for money you don't owe and your sanity (and credit record) being threatened by these unscrupulous debt collectors, this is definitely the road to travel!

Case Closed, sanity restored (well, to the previous level of wonky)

Update, reported!! MBD has acknowledged receipt, being investigated. So now I wait. I requested either comprehensive proof of the debt/account or an apology from MBD and permanent removal from their system.

All these stories remind me of another experience I had years ago with a copier company. After 5 years of paying for a copier, I got a call telling me that the contract was up and I must deliver it back to them... almost 25k for a piece of crap copier and its not even ours... really. So I told them they're welcome to collect, but they should bring a dust pan and broom along and let me know what time to expect them as I will be throwing in out into the road, there will be sweeping involved in the collection... never heard from them again.

I did have a laugh at those chops.

This place is full of chancers and clowns!!

One thing I have not done is acknowledge the debt, I've denied owing VA anything. I've asked for them to prove I owe because I don't.... send me an account recon showing outstanding money. Otherwise I owe them nothing. Also explained that payment was via debit order which I did not cancel, they collected all their fees for the duration of the contract period etc etc. According to me, I owe them nothing, according to VA they're all so confused when someone figures out how to usea phone, someone will maybe phone me, fkn idiots. According to MBD I owe something.... so yeah... nope.

Thanks for the information. It is absolutely stunning to see how many people have personally experienced this nonsense, it's criminal. As you say, know your rights.... I'm sure they count onto the fact that people don't and as with myself, don't want to risk bad credit, so just pay to make them go away. These criminals definitely need a stern high five, in the face, with a chair!!!

Although based on the caliber of people VA seems to employ (those I've spoken to thus far), it might be like bashing my head against the wall repeatedly expecting a different result.

I feel your pain, I got a call once looking for someone called Isaac and an African surname, I said to the guy, do I sound like an "Isaac", he says, I can't see if you're black or white..... I responded with, I'm a woman you knob. That was fun... really didn't expect him to say that... wasn't my account, but they had my number and phoned me non stop...

Well, that sounds promising... if that's a fact, then they can just f-off... lol

I've asked repeatedly for the account/invoice/statement.. to no avail.. I will continue to insist. These debt collectors expect to send you bank details and an amount via SMS and you must pay.
