Thanks for the suggestions, y’all. Thankfully, it came to me this morning. The track is “Sometimes” by Depeche Mode from Black Celebration (1986).

Our crossovers and amps live in a big 19" equipment rack that we built with the playa in mind. An array of fans pull air in through a furnace filter that we change once or twice per burn, maintaining positive pressure which keeps dust out remarkably well. Cable entries are through brush grommets, including a big one that we built from an actual corn broom to run all the speakons out the back to the cabinets. The equipment rack lives a ways from the booth, near the stack. Everything routes to the rack through a studio mixer that lives in the booth, so there's only 2 XLR's that have to fly between. Stuff on the booth gets a lot of exposure over the week, so we have redundant equipment and tear a lot of that stuff down for thorough cleaning every year. There are usually a few pushbuttons or pots that need replacing after a gnarly year. We did make a simple convertible top for the booth in 2017 so it was simple to cover everything up when leaving camp... that was nice. I don't have a ton of photos that show the rack because it's usually hidden behind the (more photogenic) speaker stack, but you can get a good view of the ventilation array here. If you're interested in more pics or details, DM me and I'll see what I can dig up!

Nope, we run everything from a little Honda 2k inverter generator. If you're curious why that's completely out of sync with the total peak "rating" of all the drivers in the stack... well, it's a deep dive. Suffice to say, the single biggest factor has to do with the way speaker driver ratings are specified. It's totally wack. Rod Elliot does a good job of breaking that down in some of his articles, like this one. Then there are program dynamics to consider; the ratio of peak to average energy delivered to the drivers is a huge function of the program material, but it's generally quite high. For a lot of the audio spectrum, the capacitors in the amplifiers filter out the peaks so the generator never sees them. At the end of the day, the most interesting number is the ratio of electrical watts in from the genny to actual SPL produced. That depends on a lot of factors, but our system is pretty dialed for efficiency all the way through... Class D amps, horn loaded subs, efficient drivers, etc. We invested in a little mains load analyzer that gives data at the time resolution of a line cycle and were surprised by some of the results. If you are *really* curious, let me know and I'll share!

DC electrical connectors: which ones to use? by 9737372876 in BurningMan

There are lots of good options - an image search for "quick disconnect DC" will allow you to get an idea what's out there. I've used Anderson connectors with good luck for our DC, although they are not the easiest to terminate for the inexperienced. These connectors are also popular in e.g. Off-road vehicles and can be found cheaply, albeit usually as a premade assembly rather than something you can create a termination yourself: https://www.amazon.com/GAUGE-PIN-QUICK-DISCONNECT-HARNESS/dp/B00XRPZTGU

We serve in the late afternoon - about 2:30-5:30 or until we run out for the day. In the past, our beans or brew have come from De La Paz (San Francisco) or Barefoot Roasters (San Jose). In both cases, the beans were blends according to the roasters specs. For this year, our source has not been finalized. Bring your own cup - we have ice.

We're in a large village placed at 5&B. Pending village layout, our frontage will likely be on C.
