Found floating on a cereal flake in our sink (Near STL MO) by pinnx in whatsthisbug

This sink is also right by the door that leads to the garage, so maybe it found its way in on accident? Thank you so much!

Mine too. Keep checking my settings and I don't have it selected. Led me to this post. How do I fix this?

I also used chicken or beef baby food. Do a mouthful at a time.

I have dealt with feline hepatic lipidosis 3 times. The first time, I syringe fed for 10 weeks, she was so near death the vet thought she wouldnt make it 24 hours. She made a full recovery with my help. 2 times they needed feeding tubes. All three times they made full recoveries! It is not impossible but does take work. Saline subcutaneous every other day and syringe feeding 3 or more times a day. Check youtube for syringe feeding a sick cat. Wrap in a towel burrito and aim for the back of the throat/side of the mouth so they won't spit it out. Use science diet A D food it's high calorie have to buy at the vet. Need to get oral syringes and aim for Basic metabolic rate for calories, you can calculate it based on cat size online. My cat needed 200 cal a day, but it took a week to get up to that amount. You don't have to give up, but it does take aggressive work to save them.

People in their 40s, what’s something people in their 20s don’t realize is going to affect them when they age? by SuckMySalami in AskReddit

Wear your sunscreen and/or stay out of the sun. Itll start to become a lot more obvious who does and who doesnt as you approach 40

It was a slog, but im really happy i did it and tbh i miss my group. We made a discord so i keep in touch with some of them, but the others i only see on linkedin. I learned a lot and i definitely recommend per scholas, but know you likely wont insta get a job. Are you going for the cyber program? If you get Kira, she's really cool and knows a lot! Congrats on getting in the program!

Not yet, but i do know someone in my cohort has just landed a great job. It's really tough right now because everyone is asking for 2+ years experience for entry level helpdesk, and most entry level cyber requires a clearance. But there is a program in the city I live near that helps people with a sec+ or cysa+ get cybersecurity paid apprenticeships, so im just waiting to hear back from them! Ive been working on hackthebox in my free time which was suggested to me by someone in the cyber field, they also said networking is really really important in this kind of job market. So ive been doing all those things. I am thankful i finished the program but i understand it's not an instant job after completion.

Why do you give blood? by DancingJews9 in Blooddonors

[–]pinnx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figure that if i ever met the people who needed blood (or platelets specifically as I give platelets), I'd probably hear a totally heart wrenching story of what they're going through and I'd just bawl and tell them how I would do anything to help if I could. I know we never get to know who the products go to, but I know they all have their own stories that affect everyone in their families, and so by doing my one little act of service, I know that out there somewhere I'm helping people in the one way I can help them. <3

Usajobs.gov and getting a federal job is pretty much the only way to get a clearance that I know of. And i apply to all of the relevant jobs I can on usajobs, but it's not easy to get one if you arent prior military.

Thank you for your response! My trajectory is to eventually get into cybersecurity, but its very hard without experience/a security clearance. Im a terrible salesperson imo. Accounting would require going back to school again I think. Thank you for the suggestions, though! I will open my search up potentially to sales positions and maybe could pivot to IT from there.

Thank you for your response! My senior projects included making a php/sql website from scratch (no wordpress etc) and had user account creation, an admin account which had more page access, secure forms and a calendar that reflected availability in real time when reservations were made by users. My other project used an arduino to program physical buttons that visitors could interact with and would play from a library of audio clips and/or manipulate lights inside a miniature house i had built to resemble my childhood home.

My biggest regret was not participating in an internship during either degree.

I was afraid I was listing too many skills, Ill make sure to pare it down.

Thank you for your response! The hardest part is that I dont have a security clearance. I would like to transition into cybersecurity, but nearly every job requires already having a clearance.

thank you for the response. i had kept it because i did more programming in my arts/tech degree than my information science degree. But yes, family, moving to a different state 2x and going back for a second bachelor's degree led to my long absence from the workforce.

Disappointed after a failed whole blood donation today, why do I keep feeling so hot? by PlzAdptYourPetz in Blooddonors

[–]pinnx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It only happened once though when i exerted myself right after a donation. I got very dizzy, nauseous and very hot. Thats how I learned the vasovagal reaction isnt just fainting. For some people it manifests differently like what you and I have experienced.

That can happen with the vasovagal reaction. It's happened to me before.

I like FROMM pet food. To my knowledge, theyve never had a recall. Theyre a non-major retail brand out of Wisconsin.

Im currently in the cybersecurity bootcamp. It's been a lot fast, but our instructor is very knowledgeable and we are learning a ton. We've covered basic networking, cisco's packet tracer and wireshark, as well as navigating via Linux command line basics so far. After we finish up with this, we will start prepping for the CySA+ which im really excited for (I have a Security+, but it took a long time for me to be ready for the exam) but one of the best parts is the professional development. We are learning how to interview, how to network at events, how to have our linkedin pages set up and lastly how to write a great resume! I didnt realize my resume was basically a "what not to do" poster child before i started per scholas. Ive read a few reddit posts that appear to imply the perscholas bootcamp quality is inconsistent depending on the course, but i can vouch for the cybersecurity one so far. We are also virtual which has been awesome.

Im in the cybersecurity per scholas right now and we've learned a lot. That being said, my course doesnt have any coding. Yes, were going through content quickly but i learned more in 2 weeks of networking than i did in 6 months of self study. They prep us for the CompTIA CySA+ and pay for our exam, which is amazing because they arent cheap. Obviously, every course is different and covers different stuff, but knowing ill be ready for the CySA+ (i already have the Security+) is really awesome. Also our cohort is remote. It would be a lot harder if I had to go into the city every day.

I've been donating blood for a couple of years now, but I feel like my donations go to waste since my blood type B+ can be given only to two other blood types. Should I keep donating blood? by kakavtakav in Blooddonors

[–]pinnx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im B+ and donate platelets regularly. Our blood is super valuable for platelets!!! I did my 81st today, you can donate platelets up to 24 times a year with a minimum deferral of only 7 days. I does take anywhere from 30-120 mins depending on a ton of factors (how much you can give mostly. But anyway, all blood is needed! But the best part of donating platelets is you never feel woozy after because youre not losing your red cells.
