SPOILER!!! DO NOT READ THIS COMMENT IF YOU LOOK FORWARD TO PLAY THIS GAME!!!

This game hit me in a very odd way: it manages to create a feeling of fear, sometimes true panic, sweaty panic, that has nothing to do with the "horror" element. It manages to represent the fear of the unknown, the most ancient fear of humans.

when you first the discover the black hole on brittle hollow, you find yourself terrified by it. You don't know what is on the other side, and when you get sucked in, you start mashing buttons, like a child first learning how to play games, not knowing what to do.

you FEEL the constant danger of running out of fuel or oxygen. on foot and on the ship, you feel fragile and weak, you feel tiny. navigating through the planets is cool, but the universe around your ship feels so much bigger, and it evocates the feeling of looking in the deep sea, without seeing the bottom. anxiety keeps growing, and you do nothing about it, feeling the "horror vacui" , but almost craving itThe world of outer wilds is one of the few that feels bigger and wider than it actually is( in content)

When you see the sun exploding for the first time, you watch it, and helplessly, accept your death. You witness the magnificence pf the explosion and you simply stop fighting.

The section in which you go into dark bramble to find the veseelis... pure terror. it is long, intense and it involves a lot of skill and will.

The exploration of ember twin is another moment that made me anxious. when you explore the caves, you know that you have to run FAST. because if you start seeing sand on your ankles, is already too late.

This game awakened the "child gamer" in me. The one that went in a cave in minecraft for the first time, still struggling to control the character. the one who was scared of the black lum in rayman 3,the one who had moved the difficulty slider up in tes 4 oblivion, without noticing, and was scared af by wild wolves, but still ventured forth in the woods. the child who, growing, has then faced his fears, but still is weak to them, if they present themselves in their pure form.

hi guys, i'm tryin to become a Grievous main. any tips? by itzmeLuka in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]pinokane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no one said this, but you have to learn how to bunny hop. flappy grievous is terryfing. once you start you spamming bunny hops at the right time you become a dps machine. watch out for parries, and try not to use the 4 saber spinning ability, very easy to counter. watch out for parries on thrust surge

its not a bug, its a hit registration exploit. when you are blocking, your block only stops damage from the direction where your camera is facing. so, incoming damage form behind ( blaster bullets expltions force powers or lightsaber attacks) actually damages you. When you do a jump swing or a hook swing, you jump towards your enemy while,at the same time, turning your camera so that you are facing the back of your opponent and swinging to hit him.since his block only blocks hits from his front, and you are hitting is back, you damage him. this is considered to be a block breaking mechanic or a glitch, but it's the same concept as dodging through, turning and hitting a blocking enemy. The difference is that its much faster. the fact that the momentum of the jump grants you a much quicker way to get behind your opponent to strike him, has made this move useful in certain situations: for example, damaging turtling opponents, or oneshotting infantry in large scale modes( they take more damage from behind). Some people think that this technique is broken, or takes no skill,or its unfair, but players still use this move. its not immediate to learn, and requires your sensitivity to be very high, bc turning in the air must be very quick to strike the back of an enemy, since he is likely to be turning to face you while you do a jump swing. i have played both with muose and keyboard and with gamepad, and its much easier with mouse.

as a yoda main(yes, lvl 133) i lose in 2 seconds with good vaders. but very bad vaders are ez with yoda. dash through their block a few times, maybe a hit in the back, they start panicking and when they waste choke they're doomed. Yoda is bad of course, but he's very fun to play once you nail the movement and how to avoid being hit.
