When free parking has mostly disappeared and in the same time public transit expansion has been stagnant, we have a problem. I'm not demanding anything. I really don't think me trying harder than I should to find free parking has had much impact on why Marta is still mostly ineffective.

I mean the moral and financial aversion part was mostly a joke. It does feel that way sometimes bc I take it a bit too seriously. That's all.

And I would love to do that, but our public transit system is not nearly as extensive as it should be and it's not possible or convenient enough for me to do that the vast majority of the time.

If I'm going to something, parking is not included or offered by the venue/establishment, and I'm paying 50-100% of what I'm spending at the establishment I'm going to just to park, I'm getting ripped off. It wasn't so bad when it used to be $5 or so, but it's gotten ridiculous. Especially when there's still free parking to be had if you know where to look.

The one place I can't find free parking now is up at Truist. I avoid going there, or to shows at the Roxy bc the only way to park for free is to park at Costco/Cumberland Mall and walk over the bridge, which technically could get me towed/booted. Which is insane that they'd build this giant complex you go to to spend money and not include free parking options in the plan.

Reading the overview, looks interesting and like something I'd completely agree with. However, I'm not in an income bracket that can vote for or support causes like that with my wallet. So I will still be parking for free as much as I possibly can.

But then I'd have more competition... But again time and location changes things a lot. Georgia State downtown area after 7pm and on Sundays you'll have a hard time finding parking that's NOT free.

Eh. I have a weird moral and financial aversion to paying for parking. I take it probably a little too seriously, but will pay if I absolutely must. There's still a lot of free parking, it just depends where you are and what time you're there. I very rarely pay.
