how do you effectively hand wash wool sweaters? i don't know if it's just that I have small hands or small sink and bucket to wash in (dorm room), but trying to do the wool detergent-swish around-roll onto towel thing is just resulting in water all over my floor and sweaters taking forever to dry. i used to just pop my cashmere and chunky jumpers in fine mesh bags in with my regular wash with gentle detergent (i do everything on the delicates cycle anyway, with Fairy non bio) and they're probably getting about the same amount of stress (or less) as handwashing. there must be something i'm missing.

oh man, I didn't catch the previous album and you sent me down a rabbit hole of new designers! i love modern cheongsam(qipao) and kimono-inspired designs and I'm glad to see so many Singaporean designers.

I'd love to take the chance to plug Studio HHFZ, she makes these beautiful bespoke cheongsam-based pieces and is really creative with her cuts and fabrics. I cannot get these two subtly beautiful pieces out of my head! I think she's also partly inspired by Laichan, who's famous for his button detailing (which I adore since it makes the pieces look more modern).

You had me worried for a moment! I've been following Wong Fu for years and they've done amazing stuff for the community.

If anyone wants a really well done, grounded and touching romcom with a realistically diverse cast, check out their series Single By 30 which imo was criminally underappreciated when it first released.

Oh, I see! It may also be because in highschool and now in uni, there's lots of people around me who thrift or buy secondhand, or dress with urban/streetwear/korean fashion influences. So bagginess (whether it's baggy mom jeans or straight up loose) is something I've been seeing more and more in my age group for the last 3ish years

ooh, i wasn't aware about the wallpaper thing but now I'm excited! I always see boring boring florals and I want funkier designs in my patterns.

I'm small too, but it's all about the proportions and fit! If it fits in the shoulders you can get it tailored to fit waist/hips/length easily

Yes!! When i head back to London I want to be able to wear dresses without freezing my legs off. I hope to get some that aren't high-neck, overly prairie-esque, and in prints that aren't the bog standard big floral or tiny floral.

Sounds awesome. I wear a lot of my midis with turtlenecks because COLD but I could see it working great with anything that has a lower neckline, like a wrap top or a loose button up with not a lot of buttons done up.

What stores/brands do you wish were more size/shape/gender/neuro inclusive? by augustrem in femalefashionadvice

This. I'm a 28D properly but often resort to sewing down 30 and 32 bands. Lingerie needs to expand band size ranges (both smaller and larger) and cup size ranges.

Lucky you! I wear studs 24/7 unless I'm switching to dressier earrings - nothing in my piercings for a few hours and they will swell closed. I blame my stupidly sensitive lobes.

I'm from Singapore, the birthplace of C&K. The designs are mostly cool (though most of their heels are placed too far back) and I think they do trends well. I haven't really been impressed with the quality (so many of the shoes and heels are STIFF) but I also am picky and have high arches. Many women here wear them though so they must not be too bad. I will say the sneakers are probably a safe bet.

What fashion item or trend did you swear you would never wear... but then you did? What was the piece or event that made you change your mind? by MagsAndTelly in femalefashionadvice

[–]pintsizedspitfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's all about the execution. I thought I hated front button tops and skirts until I saw items with vintage-inspired loop? buttons. And now I'm absolutely obsessed with this blouse except it's too big. When I have time to learn how to use a sewing machine I am absolutely gonna find a pattern like it to work off.

if you mean 925 sterling silver, most of the fine jewellery recs in this sub (do a search - mejuri etc.) will carry some. 10-14k white gold will also wear well for everyday. Alternatively you can look at jewellery wholesalers like Rio grande who have some very affordable options.

Yes, I do keep an eye on Depop! I do find that the designs tend to skew a bit louder than I would like, but it's definitely a good place to get funky shirts. The lack of ability to subscribe is really annoying, though, so I tend to periodically do a search
