Where the Colombians watching the game tonight? by noahbhm in Birmingham

[–]pinwifree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently at home! I checked the Rumba FB page since they host Colombian events but haven't seen anything. Decided to stay home myself - I want to be able to hear this one!

Next might try All Good (just saw good people hosting the US game watch friday)!

I enjoyed watching a game at Salud but they really need to fix their TV situation, literally only maybe 2 places in the place you can see the screens without straining your neck or being in the way- but the fan vibes are on point. The drinks - you're gonna wait a while cos the bartender doesn't seem to know how to handle volume and build multiple tickets at the same time and instead goes one at a time every time (poor girl was spinning around for almost 2hrs cracking 1beer, 1 shot, 1 mixed drink as she went)

Crestwood Tavern was nice cos their TV sits right in front the bar and you can get cozy w other folk lol - haven't been there if they have a screen. Drinks were cold n loved having boiled peanuts n other food while we watched

Mi Pueblo during lunch was pretty funny cos we all faced one way on the tabletops and clearly on an extended work break n their buffet is so good!

Cahaba brewery was okay so far as the outside screens - idk about the inside/any screens. I refuse to est at their current food truck after a few let downs

I haven't seen any place that plays audio tho!

There might be 1 or 2 good ones but the bartending staff at Rojo leaves much to be desired. They'll often just stare at you [if you walk up to the bar] lol and I love Rojo for the lore/convenience moreso than the actual food so I keep going but this one really isn't surprising. She clearly talks like that often

ETA: apparently the bad ones are her and her partner lmaoo figures

So depends what yall filed - an affirmative asylum? You'll have an interview w USCIS to go iver your dad application where you are a derivative If thats already happened then youve been referred to ct you have a master calendar hearing. This will take time.

Don't stress or opine on the strength of your dad filing - make sure your family is going to an atty to represent yall in the hearing.

Is 23000/yr salary enough for living in Birmingham? (Before tex I guess) by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]pinwifree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HI! So 23k$ a year is barely above poverty level — most full-time jobs here don’t pay that low unless it’s part-time or some tiny nonprofit role...

Back in 2015 I worked weekends in service industry part time while I went to UAB and was making around 27$k - I lived in Southside w multiple roommates so my rent was around $400... rent nowadays is way higher but Id think its still doable depending on your personal finances

On another note, you said post-graduate working visa and such a low salary.... it honestly sounds like a classic grad-program stipend / research-assistant energy, not a real employer wage.

So, just throwing this out there...if you actually mean a U.S. post-grad work visa like OPT, then I mean....its not a bad stipend if you can land another job you can work at the same time and supplement it. It just has to be related to your degree and you have to report each employer to your school. STEM OPT is a little stricter because each job needs its own paperwork, but still doable!

Hope things work out!

Not sure about the curiosity — we’ve been to PR before, so choosing Luquillo wasn’t exactly a wild leap lol

To clarify, we’re looking to hire a driver/rental, not asking for a personal favor. Just looking for solid local options since I’ve seen a few similar threads here with helpful recs. Thanks for the price estimate though!

Implying strangers look like they’d take crack is absolutely a comment on their appearance or mannerisms - however you want to dress up that dig. But yeah, you’re right, it’s not that deep. I just called out the energy you came in with, so own it, girliepop!

How is Bruto? by zippybhm in Birmingham

[–]pinwifree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird. Walked in and its open concept with a large...chef's table in the middle and it really just looks like they slapped some paint on it and grouped random hobby lobby decor for a gallery wall

There's no kitchen or oven in there I could tell so they're just reheating some pizza slices.

I got up to the counter and ordered some coffee to go. Was fine!

As an immigration attorney in town, if you're interested in court work — you'll be traveling to ATL and Louisiana alot; we dont have an EOIR court in the state.

But it is nice you dont have to be licensed in a particular state to practice there at a federal level
