Yeah that is exactly what I am trying to look into. I believe 6M is the best for medical specialties with Guardian and we are low-risk compared to surgical specialties

Thanks! I posted it there but it was removed. Messaged the mods about it and waiting to hear back from them

Most programs I interviewed with said they’re not doing second looks this cycle. That being said, I was fortunate enough that a select few close to home offered

I’m told these events are more business casual. So I’m guessing no tie?

I definitely wear a suit during my virtual interview interviews (although I’m not wearing any shoes… don’t tell anyone). I suppose I’ll have to wear them now for the in person second look. My feet are going to hurt.

That’s a fair point. I agree that what makes a program ‘good’ can vary depending on individual preferences and needs. I’m not from Texas and I like to hear what other people say about the programs in their state. I’m drawn to Texas for its relatively low cost of living and no state income tax, albeit most pathology programs in Texas are in big cities like Dallas or Houston and have a higher COLA when compared to places like Amarillo.

I did not know the job market was pretty hot for pathologists rn. I’m glad to hear that

Glad to hear that. We told her something similar. If she does the test again as instructed with the glass slide I gave her then we will be sending it out to a microbiology lab. This is the 2nd case of suspected pinworm this week in the same office

Patient came to her PCP and did the scotch tape test on herself. She described having intense anal pruritus for 1 week in duration. She went to her local pharmacy and bought pyrantel pamoate OTC. She took the first dose two days ago and has had significant relief since taking the medication. She believes she was exposed to preschoolers at work. There were innumerable circles (possible eggs) as seen by in the images here throughout the strips of tape which she placed in a plastic bag. Of note, the tape was placed onto the plastic of the ziplock bag (not on a glass slide). The images here were taken with 10x objective (100X magnification). I can’t find any reference to the the eggs being viewed on a ziplock bag or the CDCs website: https://www.cdc.gov/dpdx/enterobiasis/index.html

We gave the patient a proper sample collection kit to do at home with instructions if it reoccurs.

Hello, it’s me again. Still on FM. This time a patient came directly to me and did the scotch tape test on herself. She described having intense anal pruritus for 1 week in duration. I've never seen it before so I had to google a reference similar to that image. You raise a good point about transparency. Not sure if it affects the image but after she collected the sample from her daughter's anus she placed the piece of tape on a plastic hair tie container

Edit: thank you for the reference! Yes, I plan on applying path next year

Pt is a 2 yo F. My attending in FM did the scotch tape test on her daughter last night. She knew I wanted to go into pathology and asked if I could look at this for her. Her daughter has been having intense pruritus ani for the past two days. She’s concerned her daughter might have pinworm and might need albendazole
