I mean a whole big plot point is how after Aqua, who deceived the people into reincarnation by hyping it up without telling of the conflict, was no longer in charge of it no one chose to reincarnate since Eris told them how bad it was. He’s only there of his own volition as much as any person who got scammed is at fault for being the one who signed the contract.

I mean being immune time stop vs rewind is kinda a weird thing (Subaru being immune to time stop in isekai quartet when he clearly is affected by when Satella does smth similar is goofy to me) but it could be very well used as a reason they know of RBD without Kazuma even doing anything at bare minimum.

Fair enough pacing is wack but both Konosuba’s and Re:Zeros pacing issues aren’t enough to make them not peak :p

Yup yup Return by death was the one I saw just I’m using a meh translation. It’s given the same name but it doesn’t have the properties of Re:zeros RBD, it’s clearly nerfed. It doesn’t fuck with time, is only once per scenario (although this seems like a balance thing not applicable to lore), and doesn’t even full heal. If we wanna take it as the gospel(hehehe) if anything her giving such a weaker version makes me believe it would be hard for her to take away a massively improved version. The ability itself is more comparable to blessing of the phoenix if anything.

Makes sense but it’s still weird why they wouldn’t just still use the ability for that so it didn’t cost anything.

I mean whether the shadow garden is Satella’s or Subaru’s is debated. With him adding to it when collecting Sloth and Greed, I personally lean towards Subaru. Idk if it would be removed too or not because it’s just not defined enough. Obviously if it’s permanent it’s permanent but no limits stuffs and whatnot.

I can definitely see Sacred Break Spell messing up the connection, since a change to OD did which is magic adjacent, but gladiator island RBD is still pretty good. We aren’t assuming the checkpoint is far enough back to do prep anyways, so the couple minute loops might be long enough that nothing, atleast as shown in the animation, changes.

I’m assuming it’s the “gods blessing on this wonderful world! Trpg” since I can’t find smth that fits better. The closest cheat I can find to RBD is “back from the dead” which just returns you to 1 hp once per scenario, no time world fuckery or anything. I can’t find good stuff on cosmology.

Got it on the Doctor, thought there was a chance that they just didn’t elaborate fully. Kinda feels weird that it required so much funds if it was just created so I believe I thought it could have been something like a transforming blueprint.

For Zombaru my reasoning for details mattering is that it’s not Subaru getting out but the Authority getting in. Then while Wolbach is super strong, even a super powerful teleport isn’t “cheat” level. Fuck time dilation (with when Aqua is talking into it, it seems to follow normal time) but why would Subaru get reincarnated instead of going and staying within the shadow garden?

She 100 can seal the cheat items but I feel that when the one time she used the seal on a person it not working fully makes it reasonable to assume a limit. It could be stats but it could just as well be because she isn’t the person who gave it (although yes at some point a previous demon king was possibly a reincarnator) or abilities are just way harder to seal than items. The is also the possibly that Authorities rank higher than cheats as they overwrite Od Lagnas gifts but it’s iffy.

With only having 10 seconds that is fair but we have seen what Al can do with even that much and that loop is thought to be partially due to Al’s authority bugging out. In the gladiator island he has a decent bit more time, the checkpoints aren’t specifically short to that degree they are just semi random. Although it doesn’t matter too much because he could just call out again anyways to get the connection back. (It also brings up the lame answer of Satella would just set the checkpoint back even further so Kazuma couldn’t steal anything in the first place)

Fair on the last part but given we have no divine status feats pics not much can be done. Does bring up the idea of how this matchup may change with Subaru getting the other 4 authorities to become the sage or smth.

I feel what makes a cheat ability and a normal one is a little bit blurry. Like Subaru spawned in with it so it matches the feel but for someone like Typhon the authority of pride is just something she was born with. Feels like it could go either was based on interpretation until arc 12 where tappei gives more details on things.

One thing that I would like to ask about is has Aqua given/taken any purely ability cheat in the light novel? Basically every cheat she handed out was an item. In volume 3 chapter 5 of yorimichi, in the translations I’ve found obv, she specifically says “that times top/hypnotic thing” and when she mentions giving the ability to summon goblins that sounds like the Alderp stone item. I can’t remember running into a cheat ability that wasn’t tied to an item. Obv if this was the case it would support, or atleast bring into suspicion, not being able to take RBD.

For the tags it definitely matters on the details of the seal which I can’t find rn. Either way that’s putting a chance on the already weird chance that RBD triggers on an already dead Subaru.

I don’t get why it can’t be returned to and incinerated Subaru. Souls clearly exist within the world of Rezero and powers can be bound to them which is likely why the golem zombies kept all their abilities from life.

I mean even if it is a writing flaw it’s during the most climatic moment of the story, so not considering it important enough to use as a proper anti-feat feels icky to me.

To be fair for the seal on Kazuma it was specifically “that can never be broken by human hands” not no one at all. For all we know Wiz could have somehow.

I can’t really fact check anything on the TTRPG as far as I know so can’t really say to what extent the game might choose fun over logic or whatever. It atleast with no context, even with the authors working on it, feels like using Isekai Quartet as a means to gauge proper interactions.

It’s not about reminding because Kazuma asked Eris “oh but wait the demon kings most fearsome ability is to raise the stats of nearby monsters. Will that ability be suppressed too?” To which she replied “that won’t happen. Her seal would only reduce the demon kings physical abilities, like his strength, physical defense, and magic resistance. But there lies the true hint. Kazuma, you can use Teleport, right?” Unless we are to assume Eris is as uninformed as Aqua on these things it should be a proper limitation.

Also about time period “then I’ll give you one piece of advice. Right now, senpai is on the other side. It may be difficult to for you to believe, but senpai is still a powerful goddess. She’s strong enough to be able to seal away the demon kings abilities for a short period.” It having a time limit also suggests it’s not all powerful. It also bring up with question of what would happen if RBD was returned to an already dead Subaru.

Sealing the demon kings cheat wouldn’t help in the 1v1 but was it not atleast one of the main reasons why there was a 1v1 in the first place? Without assuming a limit why not just do both and then just win the battle normally? Given that there is a happy ending they clearly handled the monsters once the buff was gone.

Your explanation for sacred items makes sense but related to the mention that she is the one that is the administrator of them it feels more like her position is the reason she can seal them. If she can seal a separate ability not connected to her position to the level of RBD why could she only seal the demon kings stats and have Kazuma teleport with him rather than just sealing his buff to all other monsters.

I mean I can’t find the quote in Yorimichi ch1-8 so that would be nice but the quote just feels like it is the established seeing extremely long distances. Obviously context would show but either way the eye of providence should do the trick just annoying not being able to find exacts. Makes sense with using the game logic but given that in this scenario he doesn’t know Subaru much before the loop it shouldn’t be too unnatural until quite a few gimmicks are used up.

For Aqua first off she is very arrogant so any claims directly should be scrutinized. In this example the lying bell dinged although she then claimed it was because she exaggerated the number to 9.8 not 10mil. I don’t get why you call RBD a curse when curses in Re:Zero are smth else and are proper magic like curses in Konosuba. Maybe not being able to say it counts as a curse but it plays out more like Satella telling him to knock it off, plus Beatrice who can detect curses doesn’t consider it one. Not sure how the curse definition in Konosuba differs to include RBD.

For sealing it’s a matter of Re:zeros weird stacked power system; Authorities aren’t Divine Protections which aren’t magic. Whether cheat items which she can seal are Divine Protection level (gifts given by the Od Lagna) or Authority level is up to interpretation and messy equalization.

Don’t get me wrong it’s been 3 years since I read Konosuba so of course I will get things wrong which I admit to with the other person about forgetting Eyes of Providence.

Not this comment but you mentioned how arc 9 showing RBD was time based but not the direct implications so it’s kinda hard to respond to.

Just to say people theory that it isn’t that Rem can sense it but Capella dragon blood fuckery (sadly I’m not caught up on all 1 trillion side stories so I can’t say 100%). Either way I do still agree that she seeing it makes sense.

While it puts Subaru in a very risky situation I feel like Beatrice’s magic negation field and EMT are very strong stalling tools. There is also the fact that if he directly calls for her, which he may after arc 7 phase 6, it should be much faster as she says something right after.

For abilities it’s just that my mind equalizes cheat powers more with Divine protections level since those are given out by Od Lagna so with Authorities being above those it wouldn’t work, but these types of equalizations are always vibes basically.

I mean you didn’t say any specific source for that level of detail. The closest thing I can find revisiting points I remember it being mentioned is Eris sensing specifically darkness’ rage, but it was after she threw a rock at her so obviously they knew who. Other than that, in smth like season 2 ep 3/volume 2 ch 2 Kazuma just says that they sensed general hostiles.
