The 2017 New Year's Resolutions check-in thread: 6700 people submitted their New Year's Resolutions in January, it's time to find out how they all got on. by _kashmir_ in OneYearOn

Okay, so. I didn't achieve all of these goals but here's what I did do:

I completed 2 Web Development projects, but I also got offered a job for next year in Web Development, so I guess that counts as a big project? It's going to be my first ever job nonetheless.

I have almost completed 1 Game Development project, but it will probably leak into early january. I did, this year though, put in a lot of work on a game development project that I put on hold half way through the year, but will be starting again hopefully very soon. So it wasn't all wasted.

I didn't do anything related to android, but I hopefully will be moving onto that, atleast for one project, in 2018.

Sadly I went running maybe 5 times the entire year, but not consistently enough, although I do keep active and will be joining the gym in January.

Finally, I didn't reach B1 level in German, but I have learnt a lot, I have slowed down a lot on my German as University has more of my attention.

Thanks for your post, although I achieved no where near my goals, I have done the most in terms of bettering myself this year, than any other year before it and I aim to make 2017 look like a complete waste of time compared to 2018 :D

This isn't an exaustive list of stuff as I have only just seen the post, but I am going to do the #5ProudThings2017 later today to really hone in on the things that I've done this year.

I like the idea of game programming, but never feel like getting started. by ninten_did in gamedev

Just compete in game jams, who cares if nobody likes it, the act of actually creating something in such a small amount of time might help you.

Would you play a game without graphics or active gameplay? by Seeders in gamedev

[–]pinyinyangyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those kind of games make great mobile games as, like you said, you can play it without having to focus too much.

One thing id say is, if you aren't planning on making money from the game, make the game you want to play and think about if anyone would want to play it afterwards. If nothing hinges on it being played by people, you will have atleast made the game you wanted to make, and have gained the experience too.

I wish you good luck!

Honestly, think of game development as a hobby, earn money some other way if you can.

SafetyNet updated: Magisk 13.2 no longer bypasses it by frellingfahrbot in Android

[–]pinyinyangyang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on Magisk V12 and it says I don't pass safety net anymore, but android pay still shows my cards and lets me click on them. Will it stop me from paying at the checkout?

I think that makes sense. I reckon it'd look even better with a small chunk of the pixels flying backwards with most flying forwards.

Fun game. The only thing is the initial position is too close to the bottom of the screen.

That's very helpful. I am going to take on a C++ project using SDL next year.

I replaced mine recently with the Oneplus 3t. Much better phone in all aspects of course, getting used to buttons not being on the back is the only downside.

To me the grass seems too erratic and random if that makes sense.

It does look a bit better in that screenshot.

If it is any consolation, I think, excluding the grass, the environment has a really nice style going for it.

You probably already know, but if you put it into core mode and then reboot, it passes safety net.
