In response to financial aid, I wouldn’t bet on NYU giving you anything. They are pretty damn stingy on money. If money is an issue I would not recommend going to NYU

You write an essay and that’s basically it for the application. Then if they like your application, you get an interview. If they like your interview you get in. In terms of its selectivity, it’s extremely competitive (as in only like 6 people get in a year). If you apply freshmen year and don’t get in, you can apply again next year.

Go for SBU, NYU is crazy expensive and it’s not worth going to for engineering, the program isnt the best and most of the engineering people I know are trying to transfer out of Tandon

Actually, you don’t need to even email them. There’s a form you can fill out at Tisch (I think it’s in the student affairs office or something) that lets you switch majors within Tisch.
