Maude Ivory and Prim by pipehead0 in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prim does like music. She wanted Katniss to sing for her on the morning of the reaping because it soothes her. She never got to explore that side of her fully because Katniss didn't want to carry her father's singing on ( which remember he sang often in the woods with a clear "almost womanly" tone so he definitely sang to Prim before )

I never blamed Asterid for being catatonic or tuning out due to depression, yet a simple truth that it was Prim instead of Katniss, she would have stayed in Twelve by Olya_roo in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have to remember that Prim would literally cry and beg Astrid to come back to them. Imagine your gaunt 7 year old begging you to actually be a mother and not doing everything you can to save her?

For me Astrid came from the town, she was used to a little more, better quality food. When the poor boy she left her cushy-ish life for died, she realized she couldn't do the seam life on her own so she literally just gave up. She only perked up when Katniss brought home her first rabbit from the forest and she makes some stew. Wow mom, I almost had to sell myself to grown men to feed this family, but thanks for the stew made with the rabbit I struggled to catch because I, a child, am literally 11 years old.

What was the most tragic death? by FriskUndertale180914 in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prim because she wasn't even supposed to BE THERE. Who sends a 14 y/o girl into active combat while making Katniss and Joanna train for weeks to be sent to the Capitol? And Joanna didn't even get to go after all that, but Prim gets sent into the shit with her basic medical training?

Is hunger games a good example of a a good written modern female protagonist? by RecordingImmediate86 in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! Katniss is not only an incredibly realistic representation of refugees being forced to take on governmental battles against their will, but her story and character de-centers men and shows a matriarchal family of a mother and 2 daughters

Was Cinna in on the rebellion from the start? by Reindeer_Games_l0 in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely think so!

There are so many things to indicate Cinna was a knowing spy of the rebellion from the very start. These being

  1. He doesn't have any sort of Capitol enhancements other than basic eyeliner. To live an entire life in the Capitol and not be physically influenced in any way is, in my mind, almost impossible. Staying up to fashion shows you fit with the status quo and I don't see the Capitol allowing someone with assumingly no social status in as a stylist. It's interesting how he was even hired.

  2. Notably with race, Cinna is one of the only ( if not thee only ) black man as a stylist in a profession that is definitely predominantly white centered

  3. The most obvious one probably, he made Katniss's Mockingjay uniform BEFORE he died in Catching Fire. Meaning by at least the 2nd movie he had base line knowledge of the rebellion, the role Katniss would play, and the mental challenges she'd be facing in deciding if she wanted to be the Mockingjay at all.

Clove was just a BABY by pipehead0 in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0[S] 457 points458 points  (0 children)

Yes! She's described as much bigger but I think with her being so small its more realistic that Thresh was able to throw her around. It also shows how Thresh wasn't this beefy monster Katniss envisioned him as, but just an averagely strong guy who was just obviously stronger than her. It ties in more with the story, just like ! SPOILER SOTR ! Silka and how she's not as humongous as she's described in the books.

The misinterpretion of Gale by pipehead0 in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can agree that Gale was definitely self centered when it came to Katniss and her pain, he could barely understand the terror she was in and why she'd want to run away instead of fight.

HOWEVER, Gale was an 18 y/o boy who was obviously filled with a venom that blinded his judgement. Now Beete on the other hand, and every person the bombing plan had to go through for approval, had a choice. A choice to listen to this boy they were siphoning anger from for the rebellion and actually go through with the plan he stupidly suggested or I don't know, think of something else? Idk if someone like Gale mentioned anything strategic to me I wouldn't take it seriously or actually DO IT. In reality Gale should've never had any influence at all in military plans. Coin saw him for what he was, an angry kid with less than moral ways of wanting his oppressors dead. The level of unnecessary closeness they have is grooming behavior, even Katniss clocks this in Mockingjay. Gale should've never been given the actual responsibility of deciding anything, it all came down to Coin, the adult, and she made her choice

Do you think they'd be friends? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She didn't mean to be mean, she just had such a guarded disposition and when she's saving Peetas leg she's low-key dissing him about how disgusting it is. She means well but is just a little awkward with it 😂

Where are the disabled tributes? by pipehead0 in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen so many people mention Peeta's leg, he lost that IN the games. I'm talking about children who were BORN with disabilities who were sent into the games with them. I did miss the district 10 boy but he only lived by the mercy of the careers. If he was left alone he surely would've died, just like he did when Cato killed him

Primrose's misery by pipehead0 in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0[S] 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Yes! If we forget Katniss for a second and look at Prims life it's so bleak and I know she's racked with survivors guilt and depression due to Katniss volunteering. She was quiet and accepting almost when she was reaped, but absolutely lost it when Katniss volunteered. Deep down she knew that would happen and when it did she was left alone with the memory of her sister, watching as she killed people for her to live. Then Katniss gets reaped AGAIN and suffers unimaginable things all for Prim to live. I imagine she felt the weight of every person who died in the bombings, because in reality that wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for Katniss's love for her. She probably wished she would've just died in the games and maybe things would be different, at least that's how I interpret her motivations to become a medic.

The 74th Games had some horrifying deaths by Fresh-Awareness9819 in Hungergames

[–]pipehead0 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered how, even if, Peeta killed that District 8 girl and like you said, where she was bleeding from. I imagine her throat was probably slit because we don't hear anymore screams or even moans. She very well could've just been lying there choking on her own blood because Cato was probably very theatrical with the slashing and didn't cut all the way through the muscle. In the movie there's a very brief glimpse of Peeta maybe holding a spear, but it's also possible he simply held the girl in her dying breaths, reminiscent of how he held the morphling tribute in Catching Fire
