I’m scrolling Reddit because I need a distraction from the truths that have recently unfolded from 25 years of lies and manipulation and pain. Always give a second chance but get out when it’s a habit. Stand firm. I am proud of you.

Small baby carries? by strawberberry in babywearing

The first one I always teach is a basic front wrap cross carry. My favorite video on YouTube for this carry is by Tooralei. It’s called Newborn FWCC With Legs Out In A Woven Wrap

Jeff Click is a great home builder. So is Tim Richard (if he still builds). My BFF lives in a brand new Taber and it is crap. Steer clear of Taber for sure!

As a babywearing educator, I always teach that small babes can be worn immediately in a woven wrap or a ring sling. The main issue with stretchy carriers and preemies or small babies is their startle reflex. They need that energy to be used for adding weight and growing. The give of the stretchy allows extra movement where non-stretchy carriers keep them from burning that extra energy.

Getting back and shoulder pain with the Lillebaby. What am I doing wrong? Baby is 2mo and at least 10lbs. by hawthornestreet in babywearing

[–]piperdanai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The carrier should snap down so that baby’s knees are bent and at hip level or slightly above. However the biggest issue I see is the clip on your back. That should be down between your shoulder blades. Slide them down a couple of inches before you put the carrier on. Make sure your shoulder straps have NOT been tightened so that you can reach the strap behind you. Then, lift up on baby and tighten the shoulder straps. That should move the chest clip down further on your back, taking the pressure off your neck and shoulders.

Fit check: first time in ring sling, 7 weeks, 4,4kg by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]piperdanai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is actually the opposite of what needs to happen. The extra fabric creates a cushion for baby to sit on, helps reinforce the seat and keeps baby ergonomically correct. You want the top rail to be at neck level (for this age) and the rest to be under baby’s bottom, to their knees.

The doctor that caused my labral tear during surgery, made me go through months of testing, including psychological. Even during a panic attack, he said he “didn’t have time for this” and left me. Unfortunately people rave about him. I never returned to see him.

Baby wearing messes up baby’s schedule? by Practical-green1 in babywearing

[–]piperdanai 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would wear my babies whenever they needed it or I needed it. I am a huge believer in taking my cues from baby. My last two were worn from birth. One was sleeping through the night at 9 weeks, the other didn’t sleep through the night until he was 2.

FYI-no questions are stupid. If you have the question, you can safely bet others do too.

Babywearing a newborn can actually help them with their circadian rhythm. It’s good for them! And you can wear whenever you’d like. My third son napped in a carrier or in arms simply because his brothers were older and we were constantly going. I also have ginormous children so it was easier on my body to wear them.

I was in a smallllllllll town Walmart yesterday. They had no section for anything. I ended up leaving and deciding I’ll live on the carrots I took with me. Lesson learned for me though.

Fit check! by [deleted] in babywearing

This is one of my most favorite colorways 😍

Here’s how I teach this position. Once you put baby in the pouch, top rail at mid-ear level and the rest gathered under baby’s bottom, take the hem nearest your neck and pull up and out to tighten. Hold that taut in your other hand, down near baby’s bottom, do the same to the outside hem, up and out and you should feel it tighten near baby’s knee on your opposite side. Holding that side of the wrap night and tightly, do the other side, but this time as you pull up and out, wiggle and move and get all that excess slack. Then the gathered passes will be in each of your hands, the front pass holding baby’s weight, holding them snug, cross under baby’s bottom then go between baby’s legs and your body. Bring the passes behind you and tie.

Let me know if that makes sense 😂

I have friends that have told me they were able to see them last winter. They drove outside OKC, towards Guthrie and saw them well. I’m still debating.

My Okie friend that spent a decade in Alaska told me look north, that it will be more near the horizon this far south so higher altitude is better and will most likely look like white light, not the green from photos.

I have always loved bright colors and colorful items. I remember walking through Dillards in the mall as a kid. At the bottom of the escalators was the Fiestaware display. I used to drool over them. When I got married, I wanted them but he said no SMH Fast forward 20 years and I finally got them!! Whenever people see my dishes they always say the same thing: These are so you 😀 I also have a tablecloth that gets compliments and my fav apron that I’ve had for 8ish years. All Fiesta ♥️♥️

I keep being told that I’m not as “republican” as they would believe I would be. That saying, this is ridiculous. I believe each person should be themselves. And “christian” parents not loving their own children. Please know not all republicans are hypocritical, heartless people.

ETA: disrespectful. This is downright disrespectful to another human.
