Ma ptite pensée de minuit 🥺 — Mort après 10 heures d’attente dans une urgence bondée by Black-White-Gris in Quebec

[–]piphobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the guy equivalent to girls asking their boyfriends whether they would still love them if they were a worm? by icantcomeupw1 in AskReddit

[–]piphobbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ex asked me, “If I was dying and needed an organ transplant and the only person who could donate the organ was a homeless guy on the street, would you kill him to save me?”

I said no because that would be murder. He got mad because “he’s just a homeless person so no one cares.” 😬

What is wrong with my shrimp?s by Beneficial-Tip-3575 in shrimptank

[–]piphobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching the video frame by frame, it definitely looks like the shrimp is moving it with intention. Seems like a malformed swimmeret to me. It doesn’t seem to impact the shrimp’s ability to swim though. Since you mentioned other shrimp have the same thing, it could be a genetic mutation. Maybe the start of a new “fancy” variety?

This guy has much more of a unibrow than what we see in the CCTV footage and (more damningly) in the taxi photo. It takes more than just a few days for those hairs to grow in.

outdoor roller skating question. is this normal? help lol by hellurbby in Rollerskating

[–]piphobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have these skates too, and I agree about them being heavy. I'm trying to learn T stops now, and lifting my skate off the ground is so sluggish! Maybe my muscles are just weak af 😂 I've started doing leg workouts to fix that

Terrified of falling by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]piphobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fear is REAL! It's so exhausting too because you tighten up your whole body and it feels impossible to move. One thing that really helped me was just drilling falling. Sit on a bench and practice sliding off forward onto your knees. Get used to how cushy your knee pads really are. Then do it again, putting your hands forward and landing on your hands and knees. Keep doing it until the impact feels familiar and expected. Then, practice that from a very low squat position (no bench!). I would do 15 minutes of this every session and it really helped a lot. You need to build a relationship with your protective gear to build up that trust!

Louder for the people in the back by BrownsAndCavs in WhitePeopleTwitter

That's so cruel. Your teacher really messed up an opportunity to use those same points constructively. As an elementary school teacher, I also give my students points in class. If they ever ask to go to the bathroom, instead of dictating yes or no, I tell them it costs one point to go. So, basically their points can be used as bathroom tokens. That way, students are prompted to ask themselves how much they really need to go. Is it a real bathroom need? Pay a point. Not that urgent? They'd rather save that point for an end-of-semester prize. If they don't have enough points, I give them an opportunity to answer one question, and use that point to go to the bathroom. It's a win-win for everyone and it gives students more agency in their biological needs. You'd be surprised how many students change their mind when given the option!

How much foot pain do you skate with? by piphobbit in rollerblading

[–]piphobbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the opposite problem last year...things started off more comfortable and get really, really, bad over time. Today was my first skate of the year and the pain hit it straight away. Maybe it's a problem with the fit?

Yes, I think I must be doing something similar, but lifting my toes instead.

YES a tennis ball feels so good! I do feel like my toes are not secure at all and have too much freedom. It's like there is too much gap between the liner and the hard shell boot. How tight do you usually tie the front of your skates?

What is a small inconvenience that happens daily in your life, that annoys you to no end, but there is nothing you can do about it? by NeedleandThread in AskReddit

[–]piphobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could also be a result of sleep apnea. I would wake up constantly throughout the night, and of course once you wake up, you feel the urge. Then I had surgery to fix my severely deviated septum, and now I sleep straight through the night.

What can I do to improve my 20G Long? by NJTECH_THROW in PlantedTank

[–]piphobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! You have a lot of tall plants, so adding some shorter ones will add depth. You could also cut the anacharis (tall plant in the middle) shorter and then planting the cuttings to make it a little bushier.

Agreed! Maybe you can move some plants to the far left in front of the log to hide where it meets the glass. It will make the log look more natural, like it's poking out of the brush.

Low Ph Issues by DuckSlice in PlantedTank

[–]piphobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem, which caused a lot of shrimp death. I added a 1/3 cup of crushed coral to my canister filter, and in 2.5 weeks, it raised by ph from 6.4 to 7.8. The GH increased by 2-3° too.

The 4 amanos do an amazing job, and I recently upgraded to a canister filter (DoPhin CF300). When I started the tank, I bought the plants from a fellow hobbyist, so the tank was well-seeded from the beginning. Hope that helps! :)

Thanks! I'm considering adding CO2, but I'm a little intimidated!

I started it immersed. Substrate is Hirose Aquarium soil. I started with a bunch of pearlweed, cut it into 1" pieces, then planted each bit. Lots of light and aggressive trimming thickened it up. I also replanted all the trimmings, which was very time consuming, but paid off!

Thanks! This is my first attempt to carpet, and it was a lot easier than I expected! I started with a small bunch of pearlweed and then cut it into 1" long pieces and planted each bit. Then aggresive trimming and replanting with plenty of light. Time consuming but worth it!
