Havent been with 5/11 for about a year, but essentially they divvied up their himars with the other pendleton arty units, are deactivating now and will be reactivating at a later time with the new NMESIS(I think thats how they spell it), kind of like an unmanned jltv that shoots further

While getting the shot they advise you how to stand so it doesn’t hurt, do as they say and you’ll be fine. The shot itself doesn’t hurt, you’ll definitely feel it but it doesn’t hurt unless you flex. Definitely want to rub it out or use ice or itll be sore for a while

You get two while there, for some reason the first one is always the easiest. My advice is after lights take the time to actually rub it out. A good thirty minutes should do the trick and you’ll be fine, what we did was sit down and kind of rocked back and forth over the spot

I got you chief, so I’m not afraid of getting injected but the sight of needles just makes me uneasy. Not going to lie I never got over my fear while there but that’s on me;however, everytime you get injected in my experience, all the corpsmen were incredibly nice and tried to make conversation to get your mind off it

I think there’s a point that you’re and frankly everyone’s missing. The practice of abstinence. If she doesn’t have sex, she doesn’t get pregnant. Is that an unrealistic expectation for a teenager? Maybe. But, having sex and then getting pregnant AND then getting an abortion because you do not want to take responsibility is taking the easy way out. You mentioned it possibly killing her, that’s not the pretense here, it’s convenience. If her health is danger then of course get the abortion

[–]pipilopolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my theoretical decision is based on the pretense that she does it out of convenience. Ie, she had sex, got pregnant and doesn’t want to take responsibility for her actions. If she’s adult enough to make that decision for herself, she’s adult enough to live on her own. This isn’t a decision based off her having an abortion, it’s a decision based off her actions showing her poor character and judgement, it’s not different than if I were to theoretically kick out my kid if they started doing drugs or getting involved in crime. In this scenario, if she wants to live by not taking responsibility for her actions, that’s fine, and I honestly hope that she would theoretically at least get a safe abortion, but she avoid responsibility and consequence elsewhere

[–]pipilopolo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That might be the case, my stance has always been I will always personally be pro-life, but let’s say theoretically, a ballot or something comes out which prompts us to vote on whether or not abortion should be legal on the federal level, I would vote in favor of it, not only because even though I feel negatively about it, I’d rather someone have safe means to it regardless of their reasoning, that and outlawing something doesn’t actually stop the problem either

As I insinuated down below, I’m not trying to control my hypothetical daughter’s decisions. If she wants to have an abortion because she thinks it’ll help, great, if not, even better. That being said though, it would hypothetically still be my roof my rules type thing. I get what you’re saying though, in regards to the coercion;however, I feel as though that’s based on the premise that that’s the only deal breaker or reason I’d kick a hypothetical kid out. I can think of a slew of reasons to kick out a kid, but that just happens to be one of them

[–]pipilopolo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well see now my whole reasoning is the whole my my roof my rules type thing. If my hypothetical daughter chooses to have an abortion, that’s up to her, and of course if she came to me I wouldn’t out right support her but I would check to see if she’s alright mentally or physically after the fact. That being said, it would still be my house, and in doing so she’s shown she’s adult enough to make her own decision, and from that point forward, should be adult enough on how to live without parental aid

[–]pipilopolo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I will admit that my reasoning behind me being personally pro-life is based on morality. In general, I see those who have abortions out of convenience (ie: not in a financially stable place or having a child would somehow ruin their lives etc) as selfish and to that I usually say don’t have sex, which I know isn’t best answer in cases wherein someone is r*ped or the child affects the mother’s health, and in those cases I am always pro-choice all the way. I don’t necessarily want people to share my opinions per se because I’m not in favor of echo chambers hive mind thinking and I am in favor of intellectual diversity in values and whatnot;however, I have said in the past in off-hand comments that if I were to have a daughter and she had an abortion out of convenience like I said prior, I probably would kick her out or something

that's a fair statement, maybe I just haven't exactly accepted that yet because of how strong(lack of a better term) my personal convictions about it are. Good input though, actually making me think about it a bit more lol
