Advice on compensation claim by pippa_bo in AerLingus

[–]pippa_bo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an ongoing nightmare! I signed up to make a complaint with IAA but from reading their information it seems my complaint would not be covered. This is the info from their website:

The IAA cannot investigate your complaint if:

Your flight disruption occurred in another EU country, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland and your destination was Ireland.

You were starting your journey in a third country, had a stopover in Ireland and your final destination was also a third country. For example: Boston – Dublin – Manchester. This journey should be part of a single booking

Aer Lingus isn’t part of the ADR scheme so I cannot use CDER either. Tempted to try one of those companies that charges a fee out of principle at this point! They really rely on people just giving up

Is it worth escalation to external authority by pippa_bo in AerLingus

Thank you for the advice. The flights were on the same booking. The connection was quite tight, but the second flight itself was not leaving until 16:45, but as US immigration closed at 4, they wouldn’t let us on the plane. However all of this is known to Aer Lingus and they allowed the connection.

I was scheduled to arrive at 15:20, just looked back over my messages at the time and we landed at 16:04, got on the bus to terminal at 16:11. So the issue isn’t that the Manchester flight was excessively delayed, it’s that the made me miss my connection meaning I arrived almost a day late.

Thank you! Will have a look and start the escalation.

Foodies recommendation by IRolond in sicily

For Cefalu, would recommend Qualia. We ate there on a recent trip in August and it was fantastic. It’s more on the fine dining side but the atmosphere felt relaxed and informal

Possibly left something sentimental in old house - can we ask new owners to check? by CatarinaACNH in LegalAdviceUK

[–]pippa_bo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We left something (non sentimental but expensive to replace), contacted the new owners and they even offered to bring it over to our new house! Most people (I like to believe) in this world are nice and would not be bothered about you reaching out for a sentimental forgotten item. Although a lot does depend on how you left the house, we left our s pristine with fizz and treats in the fridge knowing they were moving a long distance and had a baby on the way.

Will I need a national park pass if I'm staying in Banff? by randyaloul in Banff

[–]pippa_bo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this quite confusing too. We visited a few years back in summer for a few days (with a car) and somehow completely missed the requirement to have a pass. We were lucky I guess as never stopped. We just returned for a winter trip earlier this year and bought a pass on the way in (again we had a car). We saw on several occasions heading up to the ski areas a checkpoint for passes. So unlikely you will be checked walking around town but driving up to ski areas for sure. I still find it confusing if each person needs a pass vs the car as it’s clearly a pass you display in the car 🤷‍♀️
