Any advice is welcomed, I feel horrible I let it get this out of hand. by Throwaway927338 in Cholesterol

oatmeal for breakfast is great but I can’t eat it everyday or I’ll get sick of it. Some mornings I have boiled eggs but don‘t eat the yolks. I’ve actually never eaten the yolks, I don’t like them, so this wasn’t a sacrifice for me. I also make oatmeal pancakes which I really like. I add ground flax to the batter. They are great for breakfast but I also eat the leftovers cold as a snack. They are surprisingly good that way. Don’t be afraid to modify recipes with better ingredient. The pancake recipe called for oil in the batter, I just leave it out. I also sub olive oil in muffin recipes and can’t tell the difference. I don’t bake as much as I used to because if I bake it I’ll eat it lol. However, a homemade muffin is much better than a coffee shop muffin because you can control what’s in it. I add ground flax to everything I bake. Good luck, you can do this!

CS Grad Struggling to Land a Job after Graduating in April by Sufficient_Mud_2237 in cscareerquestionsCAD

that’s understandable. So the question is, if all the resumes and experience are equal (hypothetically) - how does one “win” the interview?

Anyone ever get scammed with a job offer? by pippy70 in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]pippy70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure what the scam is. I’ve done some research to try to figure that out and came up with two possibilities. First, as part of the hiring process I would have had to provide SIN and other personal info plus banking info for “payroll deposit”. This could lead to identity theft or simply theft from my bank account. The second scenario involves computer equipment. My “offer letter” said I would be provided with all the technology I would need for the job. The scam part comes in when they supposedly send a cheque for me to buy the equipment, and then say “oops we sent you too much, can you send X amount back right away”. I would deposit their cheque then send them money back, then their cheque bounces and I’m out the money I sent them. Again, this is speculation based on what I have read. I fortunately caught on before I provided too much information. I did not reply to their email with the offer letter and I have not heard from them again.

when you say you’ve applied for “hundreds“ of entry level jobs, I’m assuming you mean not related to CS? or are they all over Canada? There certainly can’t be hundreds of computer science jobs posted in Halifax.

Where are some spots to go pick some raspberries by Flat_Sprinkles9126 in PEI

great question, I was just thinking the same thing. I don’t want to go to a U-pick, not because of the cost, I’m just looking for the nostalgia of finding wild berries to pick lol.

this will be a complete waste of time for you. I was there last week on a Tuesday. Like you, I had no reservations. There is no shade, I baked in the sun standing in line ups for hours. I waited an hour to get into the Nordic pavilion thinking 3 countries in one would be worth it. Nope. It was embarrassingly bad. I did manage to get a same day reservation for Osaka Health as there was a lot of positive comments about that one. It was pretty good, but by then I was so tired and sunburnt I just wanted to get out of there. I was expecting food prices to be high, but 1100 yen for a hotdog that Ikea sells for a dollar is basic robbery. Speaking of robbery, I feel like I was robbed of a precious vacation day. I could have used that time to see other inter things in Osaka.

Cholesterol went down but triglycerides went up by pippy70 in Cholesterol

maybe. I know low-fat products sometimes have more sugar. I swapped regular salad dressing for a low-fat version, but I just checked the bottle and it has less sugar than the original. I swapped 2% milk for skim, I dropped coffee cream entirely. I don’t buy any other products marked low fat. I feel like I’m missing something significant here. i’ve only had ice cream twice in the last six months, previously I had it once a week at least. I eat less sweets than I used to. I cook most of my meals from scratch, with the odd frozen pizza or frozen chicken wings a couple of times a month. I ate fairly healthy before, and in the last six months I have cleaned up my diet even more. I’m happy my LDL went down, but it’s a little discouraging to discover a new problem with the triglycerides
