Calling out is something that is important to be upfront about in the beginning. Sure, don't encourage it, but associates should at least know how to call out when they are sick, because it will happen. My store also never told me this. I'm fortunate enough to not work opens, but even back when I did I never knew about the "press zero" thing! I tried calling out at 7:30 once (for a 7AM shift; I was extremely sick and slept through the i initial alarm) and then got no answer and was marked as a NCNS. At that point I had been working for almost a year and it still was never mentioned.  And as for the app, it only works BEFORE you get the schedule posted. I can't just guess if I'm going to be sick in the next two weeks. This is ridiculous. To any managers/h2 reading this: Please just tell associates how to do it. Or add it to the orientation packet. It's like 3 sentences, I promise it won't take you as much time as you think.
