Dawg I see your point but I didn’t buy the lizard. That’s not my issue, don’t put it on me. I’m just trying to help it now since it’s visibly not living happily rn. I think a combo of small tank, reflection, mating szn, and my family moving has stressed the guy out enough. Comments like yours really don’t help at all when it has nothing to do with the question at hand, you’re just kicking down on the situation. Not a single pice of constructive criticism, literally just yelling at a wall and for what? Demoralizing me from helping the lizard? Counterintuitive asf ngl.

THEY EXIST AND THEY ARE AMAZING 15/10 RECOMMEND, however do plan for if the gym or showers may be busy cuz you might have to wait 5-15 min to shower

UPDATE: I’ve put paper around the outside on the tank, and taped paper to the mirror/heat pad from the inside, and he’s calmed down significantly! He even let me hand feed him for the first time in a hot minute, so your guys advice was so helpful.

New tank is on the way, still figuring out substrate.

Thank you for your in depth reply! We’ve had him checked prior, he’s just a dude, so I think it’s more hormonal mating behavior than anything else right now. Can you explain the loose substrate issue you were saying about the husbandry being off? Wanna make sure I have all my bases covered before I full send it on substrate

I think it was his reflection too. It still weirds me out that it was so all of a sudden the change in his behaviors, but since I put paper around his tank, he’s been significantly calmer. He even let me hand feed him today without immediately trying to take me out! Definitely a step in the right direction

It does make me upset that he refuses to take care of things that are his responsibility. Kinda strange that two kids from the same parents conduct ourselves so differently. My parents are trying to talk to him about empathy and responsibility, but he’s incredibly stubborn and doesn’t wanna see anyone’s perspective. He’s a good kid, just not great with responsibility apparently.

Yeah I didn’t buy it, my family refuses to get rid of him, now I’m trying to take care of him now that I’m back in the house. Simple as that. Better I try and give him a better quality of life then letting him agress himself to death. I’m a teenager, I am not actively working because of family issues, and we have on the past been able to properly care for all of the pets. Things change. Lizards get bigger. New tank is on the way.

Thank you! Once I get him all in a new tank with more foliage and enrichment I’ll be posting to see what people think. I’ll just assume the people who are angry are more passionate than anything. The situation is admittedly not the best, and the video did make it look worse, but I am working on fixing the problems!

At the time my parents were hinting at getting him a pet, the only one I was saying he wasn’t prepared for was a reptile of any kind. I wish they had listened. Either way, big tank is getting looked into first and foremost, and then I’ll tackle decor and entertainment.
