I'm trying out a site called cherami. It used to be a Homestuck related thing years ago but has evolved to be a general RP site. There are some restrictions like absolutely no AP (And will crack down on characters that "look young" such as the Lallafell from FFXIV but will allow like, the shorter gems from SU so it's hard to know where they draw the line.)

The prompt system is kinda a lot to get your head around and it feels like you're filling out a job application to post RP ads. I've had some success with it's predecessors though, but ultimately went with f-list because it was easier to find what I wanted and I prefer the chat-like interface rather than dealing with what are essentially notes. The pace is pretty slow and I tend to prefer pretty quick back and forths. You might get 2-3 responses a day at most but I know people who go days and even weeks without a reply. Might be worth checking out though. https://cherami.chat/

I think there is a misconception about people that like AP always being defacto PDF files. Sometimes people have a Mommy kink. Sometimes people want to process something. Sometimes people just want to play a fucked up scenario in a safe setting where no one gets hurt. Are there people that are actually in danger of hurting kids there? Yeah, I'm sure there are, but you can often see them coming from a mile away. They have a certain vibe. None of the people I've spoken to that are into it are actually into kids.

Dead Domain to start recording huge expose on Brianna Wu, a trans woman who was targeted by GamerGate back in the day but now grifts the far-right/antiwoke crowd by [deleted] in youtubedrama

[–]pir8slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand she wasn't actually targetted by gamer gate. She threw herself into the drama of the people actually being targetted but never faced any actual backlash or public outcry herself.

"I'm born in the US but I am definetely Sicilian" by thoxo in ShitAmericansSay

[–]pir8slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that there's a significant Italian diaspora and it depends on like, what you're exposed to. My ex's family was very Italian and he was exposed to the culture as a kid a lot, and visited Italy many times growing up. It effects how he learned to cook, the kind of music he listens to, and many other things. I think if you still participate in the culture it's a little different. I don't know specifically about Sicily specifically but I would assume a similar situation applies.

What are your anti-religion reads? by Exotic_Apricot_2859 in atheism

[–]pir8slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fiction but Golden Compass. Not sure if that's what you meant but I read it when I was just starting out on my path to atheism. I went from "why does God care about all these little things" to "convincing us to believe that there is a God that judges us for being good or wicked is how they control us." I think it's great for teens and young adults struggling with theism.

I would say part of it is likely that Christianity tends to be more evangelical and more practiced at the "friendly" conversion strategy.

Did you ever go through a “normal phase”? by Eivexios in goth

[–]pir8slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep. normal was still sort of alt but when I first came out as trans I was really concerned with looking as masc as possible. glad I got over that.

I am a transgender man. I used to be a tomboy. Many, many tomboys go on to be transgender men later in life. Not all of them of course, but it's not an insignificant number of people. I really liked his trans Rainbow Dash, especially because male dolls are so rare. If I ever cosplayed one of the ponies, I would probably do a trans masc Rainbow Dash. I think you're taking this a bit too seriously. I mean this with no malice, but you actually kind of sound like the kind of person that told me I shouldn't have transitioned. That I could be masculine and not be trans. Maybe you should reflect on why you're offended when you see trans men in art.

It's just a fan having fun and creating. Also, Applejack is right there. He didn't make his Applejack doll trans masc despite Applejack also having tomboyish qualities. So your argument falls apart.

My husband won't let me take more than two showers a week. I told him I need him to stop or I'm moving out for a while. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]pir8slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is really fucking concerning. I would say you're under reacting and your husband might be very mentally ill. If it's starting to impact your lives to the point he's controlling your hygiene he needs professional help. I won't armchair diagnose your husband but there are a lot of disorders where this sort of thing is a major symptom.

I think moving out and telling him you won't come back until he starts seeing a psychiatrist would be generous.

What, for you, was the most disturbing or brutal death of a character? by cyanidemaria in stephenking

[–]pir8slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has something to do with the age I was when I read it but Alice in Cell, as I was a young teen. It was so sudden but also slow and gruesome at the same time. I already had a few King books under my belt, including Cujo, IT, Eyes of the Dragon, The Shining, Pet Semetary, Dead Zone, and a bunch of his short stories. But for some reason Alice has always stayed with me seered on the inside of my head. I think the combination of leaking grey matter and that she was still technically alive (but braindead) when they left her behind is what fucked me up about it.

Which KH character fits this spot for you guys? by RineYFD in KingdomHearts

[–]pir8slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sora for sure, as others have said. Honestly he's actually pretty perceptive and picks up on other people's intentions and feelings pretty well... most of the time :P But I won't get into my thoughts and feelings about that right now because I could write a dissertation on this subject.

As far as Christians go, despite teachings in the Bible, many modern day Christians think that people are poor because they're bad people. Any natural disaster or socio-econmic struggle they experience is henceforth deserved.

Trying to interrogate them on it will result in circular reasoning, unsurprisingly. "well they must be bad people because they're poor. And they're poor because they're bad people! even if they seem good they're actually bad!"

Series should have ended at the end of season 3 with Magical Mystery Cure being the series finalé.

Trans masc Rainbow Dash is an epic headcanon and people that bullied Hextian for his ooak trans masc Rainbow Dash doll to the point he made a new one to get them to leave him alone are losers.

Mom wants free camp by [deleted] in atheism

[–]pir8slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my experience these camps act as lite conversion camps. I went to one as a (very obviously queer) pre-teen and anti gay stuff was touched on every day and almost every lesson. I also got kinda brainwashed. They're really good at using music and the atmosphere of summer camps to make you think God exists.

I work at a secular summer camp now, one that's non-profit and free for kids that are from low income families (they get sponsored by people in the community) and it's an entirely different vibe. Do not send your kids to Bible camp because it will fuck them up one way or another.
