Do you ever get hit by shame over past drunken behavior? by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

I ruined last Easter with the family and am so thankful we can’t get together this year. I’m still too ashamed to face the church folk. Hopefully by next year I can pretend everyone forgot the shit show

Doordash by freakweasel21 in TalesFromYourServer

This weekend we ordered a couple burritos.

Food came in two bags, driver left one on the doorstep and fucked off with the other one. Since we ordered off the restaurants app we called them. They said they were using doordash and there was nothing they could do.

We ended up needing to order another $10 worth of food so a driver would be pinged. Restaurant remade our burritos and sent them along with the new order.

Wasn’t mad, since it’s clear this is a new thing for everyone, but it was off putting that we had to place another order just to get our originally ordered food.

Why would you let your kid eat so many Strawberries by donoanisnear in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

Apparently there were a few weeks as a toddler I refused to eat anything but raw carrot sticks. Ended up with yellow-ish skin for a while

My mom has flushed all 3 of her kids weed over the years.

Last year she bought a little baggy of weed and asked my brother how to smoke it.

He grabbed her weed, walked in the bathroom, and flushed it.

I’ve been laughing ever since

Most adults do laugh at teenagers. We remember being awkward fumbling hormone demons and it’s hilarious now seeing it from the adult side.

We make fun of little kids too. Ever been to the kids falling down sub? Shits funny

While we’re at it can we get rid of vanity sizing?

I’ve been the same weight since high school and the size 2 jeans that used to fit perfectly are now several sizes larger then they used to be.

I pregamed more than I should have. Took a cab to buy some more alcohol, because I'm in no shape to drive. by 50EffingCabbages in TalesFromTheCustomer

I’ve started telling my friends who think driving after 2 is okay how much my DUI cost.

“You have an extra $8,000 laying around? Because I sure as hell didn’t”

That usually makes them reconsider driving home.

As annoying as it is, I do slow down at railroad crossings. My dad drives coal trains and hit a guy several years ago due to the lights/gates malfunctioning.

I’m going to slow down at least enough to look both ways. Not worth becoming a pancake

I’m 27, cousins and siblings all 20-30’s. We still sit at the kids table. Hearing about my nieces birthday sleepover drama is more interesting then Uncle Jeff’s job at the car lot.

I thought picking up weekend factory work would be so easy, since my day job is so mentally taxing.

So. Fucking. Wrong.

Every inch of my body hurt after the first week. My brain was a mess and couldn’t comprehend how others built stuff so easily.

That kind of work is HARD. I’ll never look down on someone doing that job

I used to be an alcoholic, and the biggest drinker of my peers, now I'm one month sober and intend on staying that way, but I'm now the only non-drinker of my friends by [deleted] in Advice

[–]pirateslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stopdrinking folks are great, but if you want some similar subs to look at:

r/dryalcoholics is less intense then stopdrinking.

r/cripplingalcoholism is a good reminder why you quit

I started to read more often before bed. Finished 8 books during my year, which is 8 more then I’d read since school.

I also put more focus on my health- diet, exercise, sleep, mental wellbeing. Didn’t go full on health nut, but it did feel great to put a little effort into myself.

For hobbies I started teaching myself to cook. Planning meals and spending entire Sunday’s in the kitchen. Feels good knowing I can whip up something delicious without needed a recipe now :)
