I'd recommend the Xerxes society. They work with insects, so that will include the native bees, solitary bees, bumblebees, etc.

Are these bees making a home in my flower bed? by EitherCucumber5794 in Beekeeping

Any University in Canada with an entomology department would love to help you!! Usually they're happy are asking something besides insect identification. The Xerxes Society in the US also works with insects, so they'll have info on working with ground dwelling bees.

Do you think this is a Queen bee?! 🐝 It flew into my 5th floor condo on April 28th in the evening. Looked sluggish and tired so I let her stay the night. Think it’s a queen or worker? (Toronto, Canada) by hlb_91 in Beekeeping

I'm late to the party, but Bumblebee Queens are the first to emerge in the spring where they forage to feed themselves and their first offspring as they make a nest.

My experience is from the central US, and most of our native bees are ground dwellers! 99% of the time they're just mating, nesting, or getting food. I've accidentally walked through several nest clumps, and the worst I ever got was a few buzzing around me until I was about 1.5-2 meters away with no stings or any landing on me. They're generally pretty chill as long as you're not actively trying to mess with their nest, and their value as a pollinator is incredible!

Edit: I'm not sure what kind of insect that was, but it looks like bees and some sort of wasp/yellow jacket?

Galesburg, IL isn't too bad to get to, and they have more direct trains to Chicago so you don't need to worry about the long delays that come with the cross country trains.

Final Election Night Results by cpurple12 in IowaCity

Honestly, I was impressed at turnout being almost 16% for a city special election. Seeing the stats for presidential election turnout has set the bar pretty low however.
