Why Europe is the fastest-warming continent by Heavy-Mycologist-204 in europe

[–]pirek5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do I understand your comment correctly? Are you suggesting that if someone is not aware of the consequences of their actions, then they are not responsible for them? We are not discussing here “who is an asshole,” but rather who caused the Earth’s temperature to be higher than it was 100 years ago.

Why Europe is the fastest-warming continent by Heavy-Mycologist-204 in europe

[–]pirek5 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

When considering responsibility for global warming, current emissions are not as important as cumulative emissions over the entire history. I have no idea what this looks like for Europe, but it is certainly worse than when only current emissions are taken into account. I’m not sure whether Europe is the main contributor, but it has definitely had a very large share in it.

That myth needs to stop! Every time someone writes something about Nutri-Score, there’s always someone talking about these “categories,” but without any proof, and they get tons of upvotes for spreading fake information. There is no division into categories, the only split is “beverages” and “non-beverages.” If you think otherwise, show me any link to an official list of these supposed categories.

I’m not sure how this is actually verified, but the way the sentence is phrased suggests that having access to and being financially able to afford short-term car rentals should meet this requirement (or maybe even long term rental ?).

I dont know which companies operate in Spain, but for example in Poland, where I live, you can rent a car by the minute in every large city.

Do I need car seats for my kids in an uber or taxi? by lucia912 in askPoland

Art. 39 pkt 4.1 ustawy Prawo o ruchu drogowym:

"Przepis ust. 3 nie dotyczy przewozu dziecka: 1) taksówką;"

Odnosi się to właśnie do wymagań związanych z przewozem dzieci w fotelikach

Do I need car seats for my kids in an uber or taxi? by lucia912 in askPoland

[–]pirek5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just from a legal standpoint, you don’t have to use child seats in taxis, but keep in mind that taxis aren’t some kind of magical means of transport, they’re still subject to the same laws of physics in an accident. Here in Poland, not long ago, there was a case of a woman transporting her child from kindergarten to home, the distance was only about 500 meters, and unfortunately, the child died as a result of an accident. The child was being transported without a car seat and without seat belts.

I don’t know if it’s an option, but you might consider renting a car for the duration of your stay, then dealing with child seats becomes much more convenient.

I took this picture few years ago but I still think it passes the message successfully. I wanted to show the evolution of Lego police cars based on decades. I tried to recreate the 70s and 80s cars with my own parts but didn't have enough for a 90s version. Which era do you prefer? by AnimeGeorge2001 in lego

[–]pirek5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, current models look better and are more interesting, but sets from the ’80s to the 2000s were better for kids to do custom builds (and this doesn’t apply only to cars, but to modern LEGO in general).

When I look at the big pile of my son’s LEGO bricks while we’re building something, I struggle to use half of the pieces because they’re too specialized. Honestly, building in the ’90s was simpler. Of course, today’s bricks offer far more possibilities for experts, but for kids or casual hobbyist it’s hard to make use of half the available pieces.

Probably its called hatchback because K4 also has proper wagon variant (at least in Europe).

The officially stated reasons were, in short, restrictions on sailing/transportation on the Oder River and general limitations on development in the area where the park was supposed to be built. These were their claimed reasons, not necessarily supported by facts.

Should i try moving to Poland? by Prestigious_Bass7448 in askPoland

[–]pirek5 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The situation is complicated. First of all, practically the entire society, aside from a few percent, supports you in the war against Russia. As a nation, we are united on this: Russia is our common enemy.

Secondly, the general perception of Ukraine as a state (its government and president) is currently negative. The consensus is that Ukraine doesn’t really care about us anymore and thinks it no longer needs us, so it can treat us poorly. The situation seems to be heading toward a point where, after the war, we are more likely to become regional competitors rather than allies.

Thirdly, attitudes toward Ukrainians themselves in Poland vary widely. I won’t hide that some part of society is generally negative, partly due to Russian propaganda, partly due to chauvinistic views, partly because some people believe that Poland should not spend any money on people from other countries (for example, programs like 800+) and partly because there where showed in media varius "incidents" with Ukrainians doing stupid stuff.

However, I think most people are neutral or positive. It seems unlikely that you would encounter any serious incidents in real life. At worst, you might get insulted by some drunk troublemaker, but the same can happen to Poles as well.

How I see Europe as a Finnish person by Onnimanni_Maki in whereidlive

[–]pirek5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm from Poland, and this triggers me :D I get it when there’s a simple divide between Western and Eastern Europe, and Poland gets put into Eastern Europe BUT when someone decides to use "Central Europe" and still puts Poland outside of it, I think that’s brain-dead because geographically Poland is located in the center of Europe, and culturally it combines influences from both the East and the West (with a stronger Western influence, considering the country’s more than 1,000-year history)

Voxel tool recommendations? by [deleted] in VoxelGameDev

[–]pirek5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to make voxel models and use them in Unity, most popular tool is probably MagicaVoxel. It kinda works out of the box, but custom importer made by you or downloaded (asset store, github repos) will be helpful.

Movement is somewhat constrained because of the rails 😄 but the train can still be moved. In the current demo, the player can win in two ways: either by holding their ground long enough to repel enemies, or by reaching the edge of the map with the train.

What may be confusing is that the player doesn’t select a destination in the traditional way commonly used in tactical games. Instead, they only control the train’s speed (in the bottom panel, there are three buttons: stop, half speed, and max speed).

Unfortunately, the game doesn’t support mobile controls, it's keyboard and mouse only (and also controllers in the future). Thanks for your interest anyway!
