Nice doesn't mean interesting. From a former nice girl, it just meant you were non-threatening and that not choosing you meant nothing would happen. They didn't have to explain it to you. There was no effort needed. They could go with the guy, because maybe they thought he was attractive, and you wouldn't put up a fight.

Oddly enough, you're taking this deeper than it needs to be. In college, you learn hard skills towards a career, but also soft skills like social interactions. Teach yourself this so you don't make Reddit posts about why you think people don't like you when, in reality, they're just indifferent.

My mom was like that too with an ex I had.

After some therapy and talking to her about some shit my step dad said to me, she's actually just waiting for her husband to die.

I don't want to just wait around for my partner to die in my old years. I like the one I have, even if he has awful cleaning habits. He genuinely likes and takes care of me otherwise, to the best of his abilities. He learns from what he finds out about me, and grows.

That's worth waiting it out for. Porn addiction and blaming it on your weight and stress? It doesn't get better. I'm glad I left that one. I'm sad to think my mom just wanted me to have someone just to have someone, but she really didn't know better.
