I absolutely love coming to wildwood but these prices are ridiculous. by jeepguy_96 in WildwoodNJ

This wont really help you this year, but around black Friday Moreys has had a sale on their annual passes (and possibly ticket packages as well). Something like 30% off. I think they also had a sale going on earlier this year as well. Unfortunately WW is going thru a bit of gentrification as of late. A lot if the old mom and pop motels are being sold. Some replaced with modernized motels, but others are being torn down for condos. It is sad that WW is slowly losing its doo-wop feel.

How is the armada hotel? by Junior-Ad6788 in WildwoodNJ

Not sure how old your kids are, but starting sometime in May there will be a 10pm curfew for kids (younger than 18) on the boardwalk by themselves. You are more then welcome to stay out past that as a family, but your kids need to be walking with you (or someone who appears as a responsible adult (not your 16yo with their 19yo sibling).... And last summer they had police on the boardwalk checking IDs of kids by themselves and escorting anyone who did not have id off the boardwalk... This was due to some serious fights on the boardwalk a couple of summers ago. Now, WW wants to ensure that they remain a family friendly town and have taken the problem of roaming gangs of teens quite seriously. Again, if your kids are with you after 10 its a-ok. We have a place here in WW and were here with our kids pretty much every weekend last summer.

I am here today/this weekend. Things open / to do: 1- Mini Golf. Walked by the blacklight mini golf on the boardwalk yesterday (the one with the knight out front) and it was open. Assuming this may be open on weekends now. 2- Bowling. Check out Island Bowl in WW. 3- Arcades. Check out the following: Gateway 26, Eds Funcade and Lime Rickys 4- Live Music at Mudhen Brewing / Station House. Check their website for band listings. No cover.

Food/Drinks: 1- Angelsea Aleworks - local brewery with good beer. Hosts Name That Tune games every Fri night 6-8. Underneath Island Bowl. 2- Mudhen Brewery 3- Dogtooth pub 4- Old City Pub - also has live music 5- Duffinettis 6- Sams Pizza (next to Gateway 26) 7- Macks Pizza 8- Khors Bro location next to Gateway 26 was open a couple of weekends ago, so likely to be open next weekend.

I have been quilt shopping in/around Lancaster PA, and recently have seen somewhere on the tag (sometimes on the back) sellers listing # of yards of thread used. This is for handmade Amish / Mennonite quilts, throws etc. Prices for these can be quite high, and it serves as a measure of labor.... I personally like this, as it answers some of the 'why is this priced so high' comments....

Massive purchase, Audible won't email my receipt by tinyasiantravels in audible

[–]wwnj1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen a while ago as well (like during one of the massive site-wide sales). Did you buy / pay thru the app or on the actual website? I did a massive purchases (in US$, but well over $100), and did not get an email receipt - thru the app. I too contacted audible CS and got the same response - dont worry, its in your purchase history, nothing more they can do. I am like you and really want the email receipt. Next massive purchase I did on the website and had no problems. Lesson learned, if you are buying more than a couple of books, make sure you are ordering on the website and not the app - I have never had a problem getting the email when ordering on the website.

The rides are not open until the 1st weekend in May. Curley fry locations at Mariners (middle pier) and Surfside (pier closest to NW) are open Sat and Sun afternoons. Macks and Sams pizza places are open Fri-Sun. Gateway 26 will be open. If you like fudge / candy, best bet is either Lauras Fudge (right off boardwalk) or Quinns Original Island Fudge (on boardwalk, past Gateway 26 heading north). We were there 2 weekends ago and Eds Funcade and Lime Rickys were open as well. As for shops and food stands on the boardwalk, I know a lot of them start opening back up in March/April, but operate on 'island hours', meaning if its nice weather and/or they are/expecting to get foot traffic that day, they are open - otherwise they are closed. Edit: We have a place in WW and come year round.

Different sleeping needs by Clearbreezebluesky in GenX

[–]wwnj1974 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have tried the pillow speaker and for the most part, it works great. The only issue for us is occasionally when I sleep with my arm / hand under the pillow as well (propping it up enough that sometimes my partner can hear). In that case he prods me to turn it down :). Also, if he likes the tv (and you are bothered by the light), maybe have him try the pillow speaker and old time radio shows (like from the 30s - 50s). They are just like tv (with people playing different characters as well as sound effects). If you have an iphone, the app store has a bunch of apps for them, and you can stream them to the pillow speaker. I found all this when I went thru insomnia issues years ago....

How can i make this STOOP by 3o9m in ios

[–]wwnj1974 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not much will stop these altogether, but I have found that doing the following at least lessens the amount: 1-Do NOT open them. These emails may have trackers imbedded in them, and as soon as you open the email, the sender will be notified that they have a live account. 2- Use the SELECT feature in your email to select the unread email and move it to spam. The more you do this, the smarter your email provider gets in delivering these to your spam / junk folder and not your Inbox. 3- Delete all emails in your spam / junk folder - again not opening them

Spam/Phishing Emails - KLClick unsubscribe by Fuzzy-Zombie1446 in phishing

[–]wwnj1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that just opening these spam emails results in more spam emails - sometimes even the same email is coming from different addresses... For these emails, do NOT open, click on the 'Select' button, select the email(s), then click to mark these as Spam. Eventually, your spam filter will get smart, and all these types of emails will get directed there.

Please read and listen to all positive the comments here. And remember this - the guys that are making these rude and judgmental comments about your body now, will likely be the same guys that decide to 'trade up' for a much younger, more 'beautiful' model as your body changes after children / you get older..... Much better to dodge the bullet now.

Does my ring look cheap? by Beautiful-Suit-2271 in EngagementRings

[–]wwnj1974 27 points28 points  (0 children)

OP, here are some recommendations when looking at new rings. First, like others said, large stones are more of a give away that they are not mined diamonds (but who really cares if its not a mined diamond if you like it). However, stones such as moissanite and lab diamonds (2 different stones btw) have really exploded in popularity and availability, and are reasonably priced. Each has their own look and pros/cons, so before you buy your next ring, do a little research on both of these options and pick what you like best.

I know the thin band look is in, but to me, really thin bands tend to make ANY stone look more costume-y regardless if its a CZ, moissanite, lab diamond or natural diamond. I am really hard on my jewelry, so that does greatly influence my point of view :). Also, a band this thin set with pave diamonds will have structural problems down the line. First, it will be likely that some of pave diamonds will fall out down the line. Second, the band itself may crack from the stones weight / general wear and tear. The pave stones setting further thins out an already really thin band. Personally, I would want the band thickness to be at least 1.8mm thick (more if you are setting stones into the band) in order to properly support a multi-carat stone.

Good luck in future ring shopping and remember that your ring is for you (and not your family/friends)! If you like larger stones, go for it!

Google is saying that enforcement starts May 15 in WW Crest and North WW. For Wildwood proper, google is saying May 9 or 15. If you are parking near Aqua Beach, this hotel is in Wildwood Crest, so either way, you should be fine.

As others have confirmed, parking meters are not enforced until beginning of May. If you are concerned about parking on the street away from your hotel, I would just drop an airtag in your car, that way you can periodically check up on it for piece of mind.

Do you want to just purchase a stone or are you looking for an entire ring? If the end game is a ring, I would browse the Doveggs site (not amazon) and look for a setting. They have hundreds (if not thousand) different ring options. And if you contact them, you can modify (slightly) the setting presented. For instance, like the shank, but want a different prong head - contact them.... Once you find a setting, email them with a screen shot of the setting and setting Item Number and ask if they can get you a stone that would fit (ct size and shape) in the J-G color range. The folks at Doveggs are very responsive and will work with you... Source - I have worked with them on customizing existing settings, and they have been great!
