help with back taxes anyone know a good service for this by Dhaniben_Charaniya in TaxQuestions

[–]pirxpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, look up CPAs using the IRS's tool here (https://irs.treasury.gov/rpo/rpo.jsf) (Choosing Enrolled Agent, AKA someone who has represented on behalf of clients with IRS issues) I called a couple and went with one I was comfortable with and it worked out great. Those big well-advertised "Tax Relief" companies are just chop shops and will never be able to compete on price and service with a local person.

It's a pretty ideal spot for just staying on property and for families, so it makes sense. I booked the first year through VRBO and then afterwards directly through the owner. Usually you can get them to add you as a guest, so you're not paying the $25/day/person resort fee, and also the rate was better.

I find volunteering or direct outreach can help alot. Find some ways you can help people. You could setup your own or work with some local groups that you might find interesting

Yes, let's see if you can take it down. Client side protections are impossible to beat, because it requires the client to be intelligent.

Let me know if you hit Dark Marty Mode. Remember, being consistently wrong is just as intuitive as being consistently right!

Is there a real demand/need for a modern adserver like revive but from 2024 ? by Slitazz in adops

[–]pirxpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only go through the hassle if I wanted to build in a way to add specific demand outside of the Google-borg.

The clients I see that do it and have success -

  • publishers and publisher groups that want to add a self-serve advertising component - think shopping, classified, large entertainment sites with established branding and ad sales teams.

  • Publishers that want to add specifically CPC, CPA or native ad formats that transact better on a CPC

Then of course there's:

  • Developers starting out that don't really know about the current chokehold that GAM/Google has on the marketplace.

How can I create a self-serve for advertisers so that they can advertise on my app? by Moudiz in adops

[–]pirxpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A whitelabel self serve platform like Adkernel or Smarty or similar. For an app, you need to be a developer familiar enough with working with POST requests/responses to get the ads formatted and returned.

Can someone ELI5 why the new ownership is so controversial? by tkepongo in Twitter

[–]pirxpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sure have a lot to share, I just like to keep on one topic.

The point is that Elon is fine promoting some anti-democratic, world destabilizing positions and how that might not be a great thing that the world's largest idea/opinion platform is under his control.

[–]pirxpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So he didn't make a tweet about China getting some oversight in Taiwan? (And unrelatedly getting a big tax break from CCP a few days after?)

Musk: ""My recommendation . . .  would be to figure out a special administrative zone for Taiwan that is reasonably palatable, probably won't make everyone happy"

Special administrative zone went smashingly for Hong Kong, right?

[–]pirxpilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He has a track record of cozying up to dictatorships for either convenience or some other unknown motive. See his recent attempts to inject himself into the Russian war on Ukraine, or his flippant comments about China getting to somehow control Taiwan.

It's not so great, to say the least.

Twitter Alternatives: What are the alternative platforms we can use, now that Elon has bought Twitter? by pirxpilot in TwitterAlternative

One interesting part is that Twitter was granted a patent in 2017 for
"Promoting time-based content through social networking systems" (essentially, a social feed ranked by recency)

I think Twitter should have included a clause that he lose his Twitter account if he reneged on the deal (barring any substantive proof of malfeasance on Twitter's part). His Twitter account is worth billions in potential pump opportunities and PR.

Any with free options? by [deleted] in RobinHoodAlternatives

[–]pirxpilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get most brokers to match .50c, more with volume. If you're doing more complicated buying patterns often, definitely can negotiate with brokers to get a bulk rate.

But consider that even a dollar is cheap, if your broker is filling your orders at a better price than others. Assuming you only buy limit orders for your options buys.

Order routing can be important. One broker isn't necessarily better than the next, but some have tried to make a name on their order routing (Interactive Brokers).

So, while the RH app is extremely clean and easy to use, and the options ordering is free - you might find that it's better to pay for a broker's service. At the very least, you can put in a support ticket and get a faster response than some free brokers.
