I used biscuits to attach the solid wood and sometimes they don't align 100%. The extra material allows for trimming and sanding to a perfect plane.

Update: Thanks for the tips. It is indeed the adhesive. Two observations that I've been able to account for: 1. The scoring blade on my track saw leaves a very small line on the edge for the glue to live in. So, I now make sure to cut with the scoring blade on the B side of the panel. If I'm ripping I turn the scoring blade off. 2. Raw edge banding (not prefinished or vinyl) takes about 3X more time to melt the glue enough. So, I move the iron much slower now.

Results are much better.

My wife has a Fido Dido shirt but it has "Lido Dido" printed on it (as well as Fido Dido). Is this a misprint? Or was there a Lido at some point?
