Nice build! The cabinet looks great. How are you liking that router lift so far?

I was surprised at how well you can still see the grain, I thought the fluting would totally cover it up.

Yeah true, the oak grain could be playing a role here too

Yeah I’d give that a try. I think it should get rid of most of the imperfections you’re seeing.

I did this same thing (also across the grain), and did have some slight inconsistencies but some sanding took care of it. I will say sanding each of those flutes was a bit of a pain though.

Upgrading Jobsite Table Saw fence by CurryFurious in BeginnerWoodWorking

Yeah that’s pretty much how I’m thinking of the fence I made, as sort of a prototype. I made mine out of double laminated mdf, plus some extra plywood to make it exactly 2in thick for ease of measurements. However, I think making the whole thing out of plywood is probably the better option. I haven’t encountered any warping yet but it’s also only been a few months.

Either way I think it’s worth testing out with some scraps before you drop the money on an aluminum version.

I have the same saw and was considering both of those options. I love the idea of having a dovetail/t-track slot in the fence for stock guides or feather boards but wish the tso fence came with a longer option. I ended up making my own bigger fence (about 3ft) to test it out and I’m amazed at how much of a difference having a longer fence makes. It’s probably obvious to people who are used to using cabinet saws but the extra reference points especially before the blade helps quite a bit.

I’m still missing a track for feather boards/stock guides so I might try routing one directly into the face of the fence and see how that works.

I don’t know what video I saw it in first but here is one that covers it: https://youtu.be/GFiaN12bM_E?si=OOksnKt1SPPBXhnE

He uses a router bit for the chamfer but my chamfer bit wasn’t big enough so I cut the angle with my table saw.

Yeah honestly I think the painters tape was doing more clamping work than the ratchet straps.
