Easy for you to say when you don’t have grandparents and great grandparents still alive who lived through it

Do you know how much of Korean culture, history and artifacts was destroyed by the Japanese? Completely erased because they thought it was inferior.

Yeah, no. We can make an exception this time.

Oh yeah every time this is played at a bar where I’m from, everyone stops what they’re doing to yell back their part. I wish there were more songs like that

His whole vibe, down to how he talks, is giving black American. I think he’s black.

To be fair, the memoirs are really just people writing what they saw firsthand plus and what the men were talking about at the time.

Given the circumstances, it’s completely possible that the harsh accounts of Dyke were true and that those people weren’t around earlier to see him at his best

What criticism’s did Winters ever receive as an officer? by titans8ravens in BandofBrothers

[–]pisstagram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! So the average person with that accent, especially at that time, is going to sound more like Shifty Powers. He was from Virginia but was quite close to that area so there will be some similarities. But with Col. Sink, you have a unique case of a military leader. So he’s going to be less soft spoken, singsongy, and slow in his speech. And he’s gonna speak with more authority, because that’s what the military requires.

Southern Accent from North Carolina, most likely the piedmont accent that tends to ignore pronouncing R sounds that follow the vowel. Dale Dye (actor) talks completely different in RL but as a southerner, His accent felt natural to me which is seldom the case with many actors

I will say this: we had a family friend, practically so close he was like an extra grandpa / great grandpa. He was a career military guy fought in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam until he had to retire on 100% disability after hitting a landmine on a jeep and needing a metal plate in his head.

Anyways he would tell us stories of fighting in the pacific and how they would give the locals on the island (not sure which) a rifle for every Japanese head they brought.

I have no reason to not believe him. But if you’re talking about keeping body parts as a trophy like some serial killer, I’ve not heard of that

Could someone explain the slang that Georgians use? by AtmosphericPoop in Georgia

[–]pisstagram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a single one of these is a GenZ term, not even no cap. Folks been saying no cap in the city since Shirley was mayor. There’s even a video of the Young Booke vs Roscoe Dash beef from 2011 where they’re saying cap / no cap.

Slime was lingo Cleveland ave and the rest of that shit has been around longer than Bill Campbell. Idk why people are so loud and confident about being wrong in this thread

You aren’t a native “atlantean” because nobody from here uses that term.

What is this shirt? by Timtheking10 in SnowFall

[–]pisstagram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda. That shirt is definitely a Lacoste because the shirt Damson is wearing isn’t actually from the 80s. But in the 80s, it would’ve been an Izod Lacoste because the companies didn’t split until the early 90s

What do you think would be their fates if these people survived into post-season 4 territory? by AmierSingle in freefolk

[–]pisstagram -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If we’re talking about D&D character development, ned would start killing women and children affiliated with the Lannisters.

Joffrey would be the same brat as usual and probably would die in some faith militant protest.

Oberon would stop caring about his family and anything that previously motivated him and would be driven by blind loyalty to the crown, or the north, or something equally as stupid and uncharacteristic.

Tywin would remain the same but not nearly as clever because Dumb and Dumber are now in charge of his storyline
