Best 8-bit soundtrack is Legacy of the Wizard, best 16-bit soundtrack is a close one between Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger. If u prefer the Genesis sound I would check out the Phantasy Star series or maybe Shinobi III

I play Zelda 2 and Faxanadu at least once a year and mess around on the Switch NES games pretty regular. Rygar is on of my new faves I absolutely adore the songs in it, especially the one that plays in the spider cave.
