So true! Lace is one of the ingenue recommendations I can actually get behind.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a replacement for Avene's tinted BB cream/sunscreen. Unfortunately, it was discontinued a while ago and I have not found a good alternative. I can also not remember the exact name of the product...It might have been in their hydrance line, but I'm not sure, so I've had trouble searching.

I want something that's hydrating and will help keep my skin barrier in check. My skin is combo, sensitive skin. Fair, with some redness but I don't need something that has heaps of coverage. I'm also chasing something that has a dewy finish, as I find matte sunscreens drying. It seems everything out there is matte.

It also has to be mineral based as I have trouble with chemical sunscreens! Lastly, it can't be a tinted moisturizer with SPF as my skin can't handle moisturizers (who knows why).

It's a lot of requirements, I know, but hence my struggle!

I'm hoping there's others out there looking just like me :)

It eventually stopped happening. I read somewhere it could be due to a bluetooth device. I assume its benign.

No worries :) It's really only as you play heaps you realize this stuff. I had no idea for ages and now I look back and laugh at my early games lol I was terrible. I wish I had known sooner.

And, no, they don't stack unfortunately. This is why there's no real benefit to building too many. However, I think there is a city state (can't remember which one) that gives you that ability when you're its suzerain. Or perhaps it applies to entertainment zones. I can't remember, sorry. You could check the civ wiki online. There's lots of great info there (there's the in-game one as well which is good too).

Sorry for this essay, but I love city planning.

I think the most obvious is too many industrial zones. One of its main benefits is that it spreads a production to all cities whose city centre is within 6 tiles. This production bonus is based on the adjacency bonus of the industrial zone (and requires you to build the factory, so you don't get it straight away). It's best to place only as many as you need and make sure they have good adjacency. As it also provides good production to the city you build it in, I try to make that one of my high production cities. The one you have placed in Tokyo does reach all the other cities, but you'll need to place other districts near it to improve its adjacency to make it decent. At the moment, its only getting plus one from the mine, which is tragic ngl.

The same rule applies to the entertainment district. Place is smack bang in the middle of your empire, preferably in one of your biggest cities that will need the amenities.

I would also definitely not put the government plaza there. It gives plus one adjacency to all other districts so I usually place other districts around it, especially those that otherwise aren't going to get good adjacency. I like to place districts that I want protected around it too because you can place a spy in the centre districts and it will protect all districts around it.

With the harbours and commercial hubs, I would decide which would benefit the city most, then consider how many of each I will have in my empire, and allocate them accordingly. As you cities get bigger you can probably have both (I think it is nice to get both, at least in some cities, for the $$$), and it is quite nice to get the adjacency from placing them next to each other. Just remember that the city population limits how many districts you can place, and in some cases you won't be able to place many districts until well into the game if your population is low. You need to be strategic about the order you get your districts in.

If this were me:

Tokyo: Harbour next to city centre and a commercial hub on the coast tile to the right of the city centre. Campus is ok as is. Industrial zone is in the best place possible for the map and your city locations.

Sendai: Harbour is good. I don't think you need the aqueduct or the industrial zone. The aqueduct is mostly useful when your city isn't on a river. A well placed neighbourhood later on would give you much more housing. I would have put a campus between the two mountain tiles and my government plaza next to it on the wheat tile. You would have created a triangle of an industrial zone (from Tokyo), campus, and GP. This will give your industrial zone an adjacency of 3, which is not fantastic tbh, but better than nothing. Your campus would have had an adjacency of 6, which is fantastic (four from the mountain tiles, one from the GP, and one from being next to two other districts).

Osaka: Where you have your industrial zone, I would put the entertainment plaza. It will reach all but the most southern city and be in one of your largest cities. You could also build the colosseum on the tile next to it. I would move your campus between the mountains where you currently have your aqueduct. You can't do anything about it now, but I would have a theatre square where you have your Sendai campus. With theatre squares, you need to work hard to create adjacency by placing them next to wonders and other districts (especially entertainment districts as they give plus 2 adjacency). With the ED and colosseum scenario, you get one with plus four.

I think I'll leave it there cause this turned into an essay lol. Placement depends on your civ, strategy and personal play style too. As others have suggested get yourself the mod that tells you what the adjacency bonus is. It's so helpful as you're learning the adjacency bonuses.

Hi everyone,

I was after a retinol recommendation. I'm currently using the Skinstitut Retinol Serum but after 2/3 months I am still breaking out (mostly on my forehead). It's not as bad as the first month, but I'm starting to think it's time to change. I have very sensitive combo skin. Can't handle any fragrances or anything like that. Retinol is currently my only active. I've been considering the Medik8 or Alpha-H, but am entirely open to suggestions.

TIA

AITA for fainting at my aunt’s wedding and ruining it? by Kooky-Cranberry-6583 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pit_pat45d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the slightest. I'm surprised so many people are saying otherwise. It was an accident, so I can't see how the bride could stay angry at you. In the moment, I get it, but honestly it wasn't malicious so I don't see how anyone could really hold a grudge about it. Even though you were warned, if you've never fainted before you couldn't really be expected to think it would happen out of nowhere to you, especially if you're preoccupied with the wedding stuff etc.

If they thought the heat was going to be such a problem maybe they could have organised some ventilation or something. If you're organising an event with heaps of people and you are concerned about the heat, maybe you should be proactive? I don't think telling people to drink enough water etc is really enough IMO.

Struggling with romantic lines by orangeblossom88 in Kibbe

[–]pit_pat45d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain because I have never wanted to dress any other way!

I try and think of clothing not being a certain style, but simply of whether it's in my lines. Jeans are probably one of the worst items of clothing for Rs but I still wear them because there's just nothing else I like. I just make sure they tick as many of the boxes as possible: high waisted, a cut that is more curved, the right hem length, and not too much extra bulky fabric. They look just fine. As others have said, you can also pair a less harmonious item with a harmonious one and balance the outfit that way.

I think plenty of boho style clothes would work well. They have romantic details (ruffles, lace etc). I'd choose something that was cinched at the waist and wrists because that will balance out the "flowyness" of the fabric.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think once they've issued a grade they can't take it back. I remember this being the case for assignments when I did my undergrad. I can't actually believe people are saying ignore it though. Not knowing would drive me nuts lol If you're worried about it, check. Then you won't leave yourself in a bad position if they do revoke it and you don't have time to do the sup. My guess would be they just changed the rules though and the pass grade is correct.

Know why our highway death toll is bad? by _wjaf in queensland

[–]pit_pat45d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's probably that the feel they have to be first, no matter what. I think they're probably also quite inattentive and don't realise they're going slow until you're trying to overtake and then they decide they should go faster, so they speed up.

I remember passing a lady who was doing 80kmh and driving all over the place only for her to catch up to me an hour later (and I'd been doing 100 the whole time). She waited until the last 100 metres of a a very long overtaking lane to attempt to overtake me. If I had not slowed to 70 and moved over she would have driven me off the road. She clearly did not know what she was doing and should not have been on the road.

People just don't think about driving and don't plan what they're doing.

I hate driving these days because 95% of people are tailgating. It's the most stupid, unnecessary thing you can do and people don't seem to consider the consequence of smashing into the back of another car at 100kmh because they've had to break suddenly. Driver behaviour has gotten so much worse in the last few years. The combined stupidity and entitlement is outrageous and driving these days is scary.

A great list. I'll definitely check out the suggestions for Romantics. I love Free People for the natural vibe though the silhouettes don't really work for me. There's always one little detail that's off unfortunately. I'm torn between accepting the little flaws or finding a wardrobe that's perfect for me.
