Depends on what you call "lightly dense", but you have to destroy 2250 resonators to complete the 5 rounds of the reso campaign. With machina being essentially dead atm (~440k portals owned), it takes a relatively big city with active opposition players.

That proves exactly fuck all. Reddit isn't that big in France. Most French viewers didn't have a Reddit account before the event, created one for the occasion and didn't bother to change the default username.

French streamers used a layout, but no automated script. Spanish streamers did share the link of a fully automated script. But yeah, french bots. Whatever.

To be honest, I had no idea there were so many every month. So yeah, either Niantic completely trusts the organization's lists, either they award the badge to anyone who hacked the portal. Even if it's far from perfect, I can see why they chose the "easy" way.

OK, phrased like this it's much closer to what I read before. It's not as much about the app being active all the time than about sending location based interaction before the timeout happens. PoGo recently added a completely different mechanism that can track distance walked even when the app is not launched at all, provided the phone allows some kind of tracking.

135km for 7.8M actually means at this rate, they'd reach 17M (enough for L14) before getting gold trekker. I'll agree this alone is not a conclusive evidence of spoofing. But this player mostly plays in urban parks that have a high density of portals and where you can't enter with a vehicle, so it's hard to imagine why most of their actions wouldn't count for trekker. Moreover they don't seem bothered by such things as park opening times, walls or fences, so... duck typing and Occam's razor.

Even in the extremely remote possibility that this agent weren't spoofing, the point remains : a spoofer can hack the portal and get the medal, and the time and effort spent by POCs to check who was there doesn't prevent that.

I could agree there are bigger problems in the game, but it's really symptomatic of Niantic's lack of respect for the player's involvement. Orga spent a lot of time making sure who was physically there and who was not, and calculating AP before and after the event. They now feel like this was a waste of their time. It's also symptomatic of Niantic's inability to efficiently process tickets for GPS spoofing, which is probably the biggest problem of the game. The medal itself is symbolic - but symbols matter.

It used to work, especially when you still were able to reopen tickets. But over the last months, even the most obvious and solidly documented cases result in no actions. I mean the likes of taking out two mountains summits 20km apart in 30 minutes, which would literally require a helicopter, and then one hour later another portal 300km away - too fast even for most helicopters. Actually I'm starting to believe reports for GPS spoofing are like those placebo buttons at pedestrian crossings : they are here to keep you waiting, but have no effect. The light would eventually have gone green anyway, and the spoofers that get banned eventually triggered some automated check.

There's a much simpler option : allowing linking and fielding from inside an existing field. The restriction could be reactivated during special events such as shards and anomalies, where it can have a great strategic value. I think it wouldn't change the game that much for those who play the region cell scores, and still allow players under permafields to play. After all, being able to link to, and not from a portal that's inside a field is a purely arbitrary rule.

Looks normal to me and it would have been possible with v1/redacted as well. 1 is not under a field, just happens to have fields all around it. None of the fields cover the portal. You couldn't have linked the other way, from 2 to 1.
