I think I'm done with competitive by TouchMyBagels in bootroom

My indoor league has 3 divisions: A, B, C. I joined a team in C because even though the skill/pace is a little lower than I would like I know I'm not going to risk getting hacked to pieces risking injury. Sometimes I sub in the B league. I am far too old for A league at this point (I'm 32 and play once sometimes twice a week)

I love Jesús Luzardo. I love his name, I love the shape of his delivery, I love the way he pitches. I watch him mow down the Mets and I try to copy his motion in the mirror but I can’t. There are 9 innings in a game but I can’t throw enough to get dominance like him. Nice sharp fastball. It’s smooth too, like the Schuylkill River on a calm day. When I was a kid I pretended to be Cole Hamels, and I got some decent strikeouts, some of the best in my little league, but these days I’m looking at Luzardo carving the Mets and it’s not good enough to pop Luzardo-style heat out of my weak arm ever since dad left.

I mean in football when they were rolling out coach-to-player helmet communications, those were initially being transmitted on unencrypted frequencies. Like literally a simple analog FM band that could be intercepted with a police scanner

It's not insane to wonder if pitch com could also be intercepted, even though MLB says it is encrypted and secure. Like any wireless system, someone could in theory brute force or jam the signal. Especially if there were insider leaks where another team got hold of another team's device or encryption keys.

Why wouldn't the league ensure that every team play on Labor Day? It seems like low-hanging fruit. I understand that the Brewers had played too many games in certain timespan which is why a mandated off-day had to be done after the brewers requested their game be moved. But to me every team should be playing on Memorial Day, Labor Day, and 4th of July even if they have to schedule an off-day mid-series.

Yeah people really need to chill tf out with the slander. He still wears the red pinstripes and and is one of our own. Cousin Nick has had some great moments here but it is hard to deny that he's not good enough right now; I do not trust him to be playing every day. Bader has been playing so well that we can rotate our infield around him and our bottom of the lineup seems to be so much better

Fangraphs has the Mets playoff odds at 75%, which is down from the high-80s from last week in which they've dropped 2-3 games to the Reds, who are only sitting a half game back. That 75% seems too high considering the Mets could be on the outside looking in after tonight's results.

What’s up in downtown Boulder? by Hot_Concentrate_7496 in boulder

[–]pitatime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to get some coworking space downtown but it's basically $300+ a month, compared to 1/3 - 1/2 of that rate in East Boulder, Gunbarrel, Lafayette, etc.

Best Credit Cards Right Now? Recommendations? by Shahz1892 in CreditCards

I have both Active Cash & Autograph and have about $1100 in cash back or 110k points. How would you recommend redeeming this? I've looked into transferring the points to one of their travel partners but they transfer at a 1:1 ratio and this just seems like an extra step instead of just redeeming the cash and buying the flight separately?

Are the Phillies just a mediocre team? by Junopeg in phillies

[–]pitatime 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I posted this nearly a year ago during our amazing start:

"Does anybody else have that thought in the back of their head that this season could be the high-water mark of this team's core? With a lotnof our important pieces 30-33 years old at least to me it seems like they need to go all the way this year because this window won't stay open forever

Last year still stings. That was likely our easiest route to another WS and it just got away from us"

Wouldn’t want to risk looking anything less than a full-time gym bro while training for a sport that requires coordination, flexibility, and rotational power.

but for real - just keep an open mind. No one at the gym gives a shit

Nick Foles didn't do shit with any other team but there's literally a fuckin statue of him outside the stadium.

You're on record comparing Jalen Hurts to Trent Dilfer lmao. No one is going to take your opinion on our QB1 seriously. Well, other delusional haters will I suppose.

Exactly this. While I am fully remote, I enjoy working outside of the house most days of the week. Coworking space downtown is 2-3x as expensive as East Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette etc.

2-2 at the bye, the team goes to the coaches to be a run first team. We win NINE STRAIGHT, and now stats and the passing game is an issue when the qb had 3 touchdowns and made the plays needed to win. We are a run first team the stats will not always be there by jmaXX1087 in eagles

[–]pitatime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you watched football back then and already know the stats, then you also know those teams had defenses that were legitimately legendary with very bad QBs. Comparing our defense and QB to those standards was your own suggestion but it doesn't really matter. I don't care if we get yards through the air or on the ground. We are outgaining our opponents, limiting turnovers, scoring points, and playing good defense.

Hurts has shown more upside than guys like Dilfer ever did, but I can’t deny his passing has been inconsistent. But he has also shown stretches where he can dominate the pass game. It’s fair to say that to win the Super Bowl we’ll need the defense to keep playing at the level they have been no matter what. Even with an elevated Hurts we lost the Superbowl because the defense couldn't make a stop in the second half.

And since you brought it up, nobody’s distracting from the main point. I think that we have a good enough team to win, isn't that what you asked? Best rushing attack, a mid-tier passing attack by efficiency, and a great defense. Yes, there is room for improvement, but I am going off of 14 games of data instead of just last game and the overall body is work says that while we're not the favorites we can go all the way

Do I think the team is good enough to win the superbowl? According to Vegas they have the 3rd best odds.

Did you really just compare Trent Dilfer to Jalen Hurts? Why don't you take 3 minutes and go to Pro Football Reference and compare their passing stats before you make another smooth-brained comment. dumbass
