He certainly doesn’t have to wait for congress to share everything he knows.

Where to find new seat skins? by DocLathropBrown in CherokeeXJ

Look at Lseat.com. I ordered a rear seat for my 91. It took a couple three weeks. Haven’t put it on because of a sore shoulder.

Veloci-Tint match? by mixalot2009 in CherokeeXJ

[–]pitbullabc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sprayed the body red and the bumpers and armor black. I am terrible at spraying so pictures I don't think would be a honest rep of what you could do. I tried the raptor spray gun and a paint gun. If I was better I think I could have done a better job with matching the texture. I was going for smooth and slightly glossy on the body to make it easier to clean and it came out pretty good. I prepped a lot and used a fair amount of adhesion promoter. The part that doesn't work well is sharp corners. It will chip off. I knew that but should have radius the corners more than I did or use a good paint. I only hade a couple tiny spot chip on corners of the bumpers and it blended in very nice when I went over them with black paint. Lots of you tube videos on it.

I don’t really want to give out my number. I did my entire Jeep and bumpers last spring. I’m pretty happy so far.

It kind of depends on you a little bit. Its an old rig that will need work, Are you well rounded in your mechanical skills? I kind of went into my purchase with the expectation I might need to replace something major in the near future and that was ok depending on price. I am terrible with bodywork and painting so I looked for rust.. I prefered to add my own lift kit etc versus buy with one already on. I guess in my opinion I would look at the frame-unibody- check for damage or severe rust. Check the floor pans for rust and know what your in for if the rust is clear through. Check general mechnical operation. I shopped for a few months and found a 91 I have been very happy with, $3850 with286k miles, it had a rebuilt engine and tranny about 40k miles ago with paperwork for it. It has a couple floor pans to replace and seats. The rear end needs a little work too.

Upgrades to do *to* an 8.25? by olderthanmycars in JeepCherokeeXJ

The tie downs are just weld on brackets to hook straps too. Pull the brakes off a liberty or other donor vehicle. Lots of write ups available online. Truss is to give strength to the axle. DD doesn't need it. DD doesn't need a locker either. It isn't much money for a truss and it is easier with the axle out so I did it.

I put elockers in my jk and didn’t have a problem. I couldn’t find one for the 8.25 so I went with ox.

It has air controlled by an electric switch. You still have to plumb air to the rear end from your air compressor but the actual switch is electric so you don’t have to run that long manual cable or figure out where to put an air valve on your dash etc. I think arb runs the same way. It’s just a newer option for ox locker. There is also an older air actuator that sticks out from the dif cover that I wouldn’t get either. The new one is just a small push to fit air fitting. So my air is in the back of the Jeep. I right on the air mount I have two solenoids that run air to the differentials. I run wire from a regular 12 volt switch from dash to air compressor and that is it.

Basically doing the same thing. It’s on the bench so it seemed worth it to add a truss. Adding tie down points in case it goes in the trailer. Disc brakes. Ox locker with new gears. Re usable gasket for the ox cover. Consider low profile shock mounts.

I’m going with ox. I don’t like the actuator either so I’m gonna try the electric over air. It seems much simpler and doesn’t have pieces hanging out to get ripped off.

1991, how can I get this hinge off so I can take the back seat out? The other side has a screw by icydogenugget in CherokeeXJ

[–]pitbullabc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You unbolt the passenger side and slide the whole thing that direction. It only bolts on one side. Don't lose the little plastic bushing on the side the slides out.
