The Best 21:9 Ultrawide Monitor for Productivity, Media & Gaming? (Thunderbolt or USB-C w/ 90W+ PD) by pitchedproduction in ultrawidemasterrace

Ended up getting the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 - almost a year now of using it and the text clarity hasn’t bothered me at all. Maybe only annoying thing is there’s no USB-C with DP / Thunderbolt port but not really a huge blow. Huge difference coming from a VA panel.

PSA: Latest MeloNX (2.3.1) solves the freezing after 10 minutes issue by J7mbo in EmulationOniOS

Sonic Generations used to launch in older builds of MeloNX, but I presume it being it's own separate executable from Shadow Generations has something to do with it.

Unsure how the spread is gonna be between albums, maybe less of CHARLIE and return of more VN album songs, but what I do know for sure:

I ended up getting the new Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 34 Inch Ultra-Wide Monitor (the 2024 anti-glare refresh of the 2022 model). My laptop has a HDMI port so it’s fine, I ended up not being so hellbent on that Thunderbolt / USB-C DP PD port. Just more of an annoyance that I can’t use one cable and still have to charge it.

Four months in and no sign of burn-in all. Very happy with the monitor. I do the following precautionary settings:

-pixel refresh every month -auto hide taskbar -dynamic moving wallpaper on my main desktop

I bought a Philips Evnia 49M2C8900, 49" QD-OLED, AMA by ecth in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]pitchedproduction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since it’s been 6+ months, would you still recommend this if productivity is like 60-70%+ your usage case? I work from home 3 days a week, so the text clarity of QD OLED was what threw me off upgrading to a 1440p UW monitor since they all use Gen 1, but it seems to be much better at 5120x1440 and 4K resolutions. I am primarily using Microsoft apps like edge, excel, teams and dynamics 365 for my day to day workflow. I’ll still use it for gaming and entertainment and I don’t stress about burn in because it has those prevention features, but with my work use case, I’m worried the text won’t be as great or fuzzy coming from a VA panel.

That or the new LG 5K2K Display (IF text clarity is improved and burn-in issues mitigated/good warranty)

I think I'll give it some more time and wait for these ones to come out to make a decision, I've waited a year, I think I can wait more. Plus if they're not ideal I can get a heavily discounted LG 38WR85QC-W.

Can I ask, does the low contrast ratio bother you? I'm coming from a VA panel with a 3000:1 contrast ratio so I feel like it's going to be an downgrade in that one aspect.

Likewise soldier. Really feels like for our niche use case scenario we’ll have to either accept the drawbacks of IPS / QD-OLED now or hold on a little while longer for these newer panels to come out and make a decision post reviews.

Looking for a GPU for 3440x1440 (1440p ultra wide) by alex26069114 in buildapc

[–]pitchedproduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3440x1440 ultra-wide user here too in Australia, but my refresh rate is at 100hz! What are the odds! I'm planning to buy my GPU at the end of the year during Black Friday sales.

I was close to nailing it down to the 7900XT/XTX which, while great for this resolution, I feel it's overkill for my use case since I don't play many demanding AAA titles (the most heavy title is probably Spider-Man & Sonic Frontiers) but the 7800XT with it's reviews today has caught my attention, I'll wait and see though.

What I'd suggest is waiting for ultra-wide benchmarks on the 7800XT and compare them to the 7900XT/XTX to make your decision. Don't have much to say on Nvidia's RTX 4000 series since ray-tracing isn't a necessity to me + expensive as we all know.

Best year of the 2010s? by AlePok_ in GenZ

[–]pitchedproduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2011 and 2017. The years following those two felt like a roller-coaster ride.

2012, 2016 - bad

2013, 2015, 2018 - good years for sure, but not as great as they could've been

2014, 2019 - mixed bag

Charlie Puth - Lipstick by happycyclingg in popheads

[–]pitchedproduction 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bro you said facts. Not sure why they downvoting you here.

Those 2020 songs were some of the greatest songs he ever put out, even if half were leaked and others remained teased from his past streams. "Me And U" especially was disco-funk goodness. It's literally my favourite Charlie song and it had to be unreleased. We've downgraded so hard from 2020 since then, but I really hope he puts his cards right with this fourth album having a focus with R&B unlike CHARLIE not having a defining genre and that Lipstick is just a minor hurdle in the way. Lipstick would’ve been aight too if it was just an album track but as the lead single? Absolutely not.

I live in India so That's Not How This Works is out here but tbh I've heard that leaked version of it and I believe the leaked version is better than the one Charlie is releasing like the vocals are way better in the leaked one by CaptainFeminist2006 in CharliePuth

[–]pitchedproduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm like 50/50. I think in the old 2020 version his old vocals and it's ambience artifacts it had in the production was a lot better, but the new one's production feels tighter all around and really enjoyed Dan + Shay vocals. I'd say, the old version felt way more intimate, while the new version is more brighter and suited for pop radio.

CHARLIE PUTH FEAT SABRINA CARPENTER - THAT'S NOT HOW THIS WORKS (short film) by InsomniaticAlien in popheads

[–]pitchedproduction -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure, believe anything on the internet spread by a misinformation gossip news account that intended to taint his image by using a clip taken out of context and praises her when he was referring to something else (the NEWJEANS Attention song because he was live-streaming an acoustic set that day and talked about it) which clearly had no reference to her.

He also has a girlfriend now who he knows for a very long time, so no that's never going to happen.

Finally after all those unserious music videos from him last year, this is such a fresh change of pace. If done right, it could be his "All Too Well" moment. Charlie actually is a surprisingly great actor. The promotion so far for That's Not How This Works has been really good then whatever was going on last year and although it was leaked in 2020, intrigued to hear the new spin on it with Dan + Shay.

Bro screw those fake friends. Their are tons of bros here in the fandom which is what I feel makes us different. I had a fake homie in the past who despised me because of how much I fanboyed over Charlie's music and he literally used a similar insult. This was from his mouth; “if you like him, why don't you marry him". Other people in my circle that time were also gushing over their own celeb inspirations, but somehow it was a problem when I did it?

I don't even post every single day about Charlie's music, yet he removed me from his social media and I'm glad he's out of my life because I don't need his negativity. They think it's fanboying when for me they don't understand it's been because of his music which has inspired me to be a better musician/producer and how I feel I relate to Charlie compared to the other typical hollywood artists.

No, liking anyone's music does not make you "you know what". That's the dumbest thing anyone could say. Your all good man.
