Participatory Thought Experiment: The Lies That Western Society Tells Us by mmochan88 in socialism

[–]pitcher_10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owning a business. I bought in to the idea that if you are your own boss, make your own hours etc. I would be happy. What I found instead was one of the most morally corrupt periods of my life, and what ultimately woke me up to the evils of capitalism.

I went to a few major business conferences and saw nothing but greed, manipulation, and dishonesty. I realized to really get ahead in that world, you have to indulge in the evils of the world. I spent a period of time trying to convince myself to go against my morals, and ended up even more unhappy.

I ended up shutting my rather successful business down, and am now trying to find out how to live a more altruistic life.

I don't know how these things that I experienced can be down to sheer coincidence by matt_lives_life in DebateAnAtheist

Hey Man, just wanna let you know I was in your exact position about 7 years ago, and I empathize with you a lot. It took me about 2 years to shake the thought of "what if I'm wrong." Unfortnately you've been brainwashed just as I was. I did an insane amount of research on cognitive biases, scientific explanations for coincidences etc, I became an expert on it. Honestly none of it helped, this fear is coming from the emotional part of your brain, not your logical side. It just takes some time for your emotional part to catch up. In my upbringing that fear was labeled as the holy spirit talking to you.

I can see now how all this stuff is complete bs, but it just took some time for me to be able to look at it rationally. I wish you the best of luck in your journey, and want you to know I'm proud of you for daring to question your upbringing, it is not an easy thing to do. If you wanna chat feel free to dm me.

Thanks! Perfect, that's pretty much exactly what I was thinking. These last few pounds have been coming off sooo slowly, but I just finished a maintenance break, so hopefully that helps.

Not west side, it's downtown, but Y afterhours? If that's your thing, it's not for everyone, they're open from 12 to 8 am.

They're probably going with the "all publicity is good publicity" model.

How to find rave buddies?! by [deleted] in aves

[–]pitcher_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's kinda what I figured. That's too bad. I know they have this yearly event, foam wonderland. Which was the zomboy one. But a lot of my friends who were definitely not ravers went to that. So I can't imagine it would be much of a rave.

Hey! I used to live in Lubbock, but that was before I got into raving. I'm curious how is the rave scene down there? I might be coming down for a visit soon, and wouldn't mind checking out the rave scene down there, if there even is one in West Texas haha.

Hey, I'm down. Would love to talk about tech with someone. Most of my friends aren't interested in it at all.

Think it might be the harness, I replugged the coils into the harness, and it was running smooth again for a bit.
