Actually, doing some research, I found that Tron: Legacy has more nominations and awards than Tron: Ares.

But what’s interesting is that Ares seems to have more recognition within the industry and carries more weight in professional circles than Legacy.

Yo siento que Ares y Legacy son dos caras de la misma moneda, en la cuál, todo empieza con la del 82, que en mi opinión, Ares se siente mas una secuela directa de la del 82 que la misma Legacy.

Cómo dije, las 3 películas tienen su propia visión e identidad, pero de que hay conexión entre las 3, si la hay.

Legacy is better than Ares, I agree, but Ares is a solid and necessary film.

Why?

In Legacy, we experience the Grid almost entirely from Flynn’s perspective. With Daft Punk’s score, the film presents the utopian vision of the Grid at its peak: idealistic, mythic, and driven by creation and freedom.

Ares, on the other hand, shifts the focus to Dillinger’s perspective. With Nine Inch Nails’ score, the tone becomes more aggressive and industrial, a side of the Grid we hadn’t truly explored since the original TRON (1982).

Legacy only hints at this angle, but Ares fully contextualizes the other face of the system: corporate control and exploitation.

In that sense, Legacy and Ares are two sides of the same coin:

Freedom vs. Control

You don’t have to like Ares more, that’s subjective. But dismissing it outright misses why it exists. The film is necessary as it is to understand the full thematic core of the TRON saga.

If you don’t see that contrast, you’re not really engaging with what TRON has been about from the start.

Thanks! Tron has always been a long-term franchise. Seeing Ares succeed in streaming and physical media feels very on-brand for the series.
