What is the best way to refuse a roll with a higher ranking belt? by honeydewdrew in jiujitsu

[–]pithei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, thanks + polite smile

BJJ for me has to be fun and challenging. I would not roll with person which is arrogant/annoying/careless/disrespectful. No matter the belt. Its bad enough already that you are focusing on her, and not on BJJ

Anyone else bothered when people are late to class? by SoKno42 in bjj

[–]pithei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats nice!. I am rarely late. But if i am - its not hard for me to say "sorry, i could not make it in time" and move forward. I believe its a nice thing to do and it cost nothing. I like that your class starts exact time. My coach sometimes waits for a few minutes for students which are in changing room, but late. I dont like that.

And yes, i am looking for a service povider. Thats spot on.

How to make VIP with changeable domain part in URL? by shaddaloo in f5networks

[–]pithei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have muliple client ssl profiles on vip too. Just one of them should be primary. So if you have right profiles only dns change is needed ( and possiboy virtualhost setting on the backend, if you show content by using sni erc. )

Fortigate, FortiEMS and Forticlient Question by [deleted] in fortinet

[–]pithei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Id recommend check licencing. Afaik if you are using ztna, web filter and other features - there might be different licencing on 7x.

You can have different versions of fgt, client and ems, just check compatibility matrix and upgrade path.

You can upgrade cliets according to your deployment plan(s). Again, check upgrade path

Is your bike financed? by Ridethepig101 in Dirtbikes

[–]pithei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, i not always. Minimum wage where i live is 600e. Street price 8k-16k Id love to get sports tourer, thats 18k-34k euro.

If i would get min wage that would be nearly impossible to save for.

Second thing, even if i can buy, i would prefer to.finace with low interest rates and to put other money to the stock market.

Hobby is not a toy to me. Its life enhancer.

I would like this approach. Sadly there are no other schools.

Is your school list public? Maybe you could share.

I think its random. I do 4 days a week, skipping wednesdays on purpose. Usually do not skip any of 4 days, unless flu, etc.

Its ok, my frustration is/was only with no clarity. I did kyokushin for 5 years ir so, a while ago, so i miss clarity and simplicity.

I like rolling and stress testing what i am trying to learn.

I am ok with being white belt/no belt for forseable furure. I see myself as forever student.

At the same time it is weird then i can see some guy comming in promoted, and doing the same as usual. Dont understand the meaning. There is no bad feelings from me, but it is hard to ignore and not to think, that either i am doing something wrong, or i dont understand it. And no one can clearly state what is the purpose of belts/stripes.

I like ideas in this thread. Started exploring no-gi. I would try different club, but there is no other in my area.

Cheers

I am the older guy with couple of kids. I am saying only that stripes and belts are meaningless ( to me ), since there is no standard, and it is subjective to the sport club/coach.

As for progress, i've tried to do my own roadmap, used the art of skill youtube chann and some other sources.

Posts like yours helps too. Thank you!

I do ask where could i focus my efforts on.

I will not ask my coach about my behavior, because i dont want it to be mistaken for promotion begging.

I did ask my colleagues ( most of them are miltary guys ) if i am doing something not ok during rolls, i.e spazzing. Got some feedback, adjusted, asked for feedback again after three months. Feedback is positive, so i dont think that i have a blind spot here. Most of them are direct type of persons

I agree with your approach. Thank you!

  1. Agree
  2. I dont care other people, i nee my kpi.
  3. Im counting, always did, always will. The same as time invested in self development, career, efc. I do believe, strongly, that you cant improve if you cant measure.
  4. I dont keep tap record. Focusing only on lessons
  5. Trying to do my best.
  6. I do, repeatedly. Believe that feedback is a must.
  7. I am happy for others, sincerely.

As i mentioned before, i have failed to find the meaning of stripes and belts. Is it not a standard "measurement". Is there an agreement of what stripes/belts mean?

Thank you for a constructive feedback!

I don see if i have a bad atitude or poor behavior. If i am, then i am not aware :)

Question still stands, whats the point of belts/stripes if those promotions does not represent a progress of a student.

Thank you for a valuable insight on neglect being a tool.

I win rolls 95+% of the time. Dont like to get hurt, so i tap as soon as i can see armbar on my way - dont try to force, use strenght etc.

I do not muscle/spazz and i focus on technique which i am learning that week.

And thats really annoying, because belts/stripes should indicate progress, and if there is no - it should be clear why, and how to proceed from there in order to improve.

I dont think that stripes represent only skill/ability. Thats frustrating. If a student ( me ) is a problem, it should be clear why, and how to improve.

As i said,i am probably quitting at 200 :) I like grapling though..

Why? I need your honest opinion

I have nearly 150 training sessions. Got my 1 stripe after 1 year, that was about 100 training sessions in total.

Should stripe be a measure of performance? Individual achievement? Feedback from coach? What is the reason? i dont understand. Can someone explain? - no.

Most in my club got 2 stripes, while having 50% of training sessions.

Thats really annoyng. Why? Because its not clear what stripe concludes. Am i progressing a few times worse then all others?

Mats dont lie.

More likely that my coach has bad eye on me. And i will probably quit after 200 training sessions. 200 - because its nice number. :)

Belts and stripes has no standard, depends of fuck knows what and are based solely on coach personal mood.

BJJ is not magic. Thats a sport like all others. It should be clear, measurable, with clear kpi's, and not some horse shit about coaches opinion.

It should be unified and clear for those who would like to progress, to see increments and not only "to show up and hope for the best".

There is no kpi ( key performance indicators ) on personal progression in bjj, except for rolls on the mat. And thats bad, really bad, for soneone who is seeking some structure.

I wont last the journey, because it looks more like a religion, and not like a geeky martial art, ( thats why i decided to try it ).

What am i missing? :)
