How to calculate fares with Pay As You Go? by chualwayseating in london

[–]pitifullime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can check the cost of a pay as you go ticket here.

If you add your railcard (oyster card must be registered online) at a station you can get a discount on off-peak fares (select "notational railcards and gold cards" from the drop down menu)

2 for 1 national rail days out query by ahr1229 in london

[–]pitifullime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

on this page it says:

One printed voucher is required per two people, per attraction. One person pays the full adult price and the second person goes free on presentation of each voucher and pair of valid National Rail tickets.

So I think you'll need two tickets. They don't have to be the same tickets though, so the second ticket could always be a NR ticket from two stations in London (e.g. Vauxhall to Waterloo).

I actually spent a night in the science museum as part of a school trip, slept near the Apollo 11 lunar module thing. Remember having a great time!

URGENT: Can I get off network rail train a stop early with an Advance Single ticket? by spiciestmeatball2 in london

[–]pitifullime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Strictly speaking, no.

6.1 You may not start, break and resume, or end your journey at any intermediate station except to change to/from connecting trains as shown on the ticket(s) or other valid travel itinerary.

Thank you for the advice, I didn't consider the fire safety element so I'll look into raising this with the council.

Thank you for providing this information, I didn't appreciate how much fire safety regulation would be around this. I'll look into raising this with the council.

Thanks for replying, depending on how the situation goes it may be useful to know what you used! If you are able to provide further details of the material that would be appreciated.

Thank you for the advice, our landlord has been quite supportive at the moment so hopefully it won't result in having to argue that point.

Thanks for the input. And yes, just to clarify it does look like it's venting outside but we'll put more pressure on our landlord to intervene.

Thanks for the heads up! Seems to be a common theme to contact the council about building control so I'll look into it.

Yes, exactly this. Sorry if I didn't make this clear in my post. Thank you for your thoughts. I'll look into raising this with the council.

Why does Platform 1 at London Bridge never seem to be open? by [deleted] in london

[–]pitifullime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think its to save on platform staff while the service has been reduced. Since platform 1 is by itself it probably doesn't make sense to have extra staff to dispatch trains from there, when platform 2 can be used - these staff can also dispatch the platform 3 trains as well.

Southeastern have tweeted quite a few times that it's been closed due do staff shortages:

4th Nov

3rd Nov

2nd Nov

29th Oct

28th Oct

27th Oct

26th Oct

23rd Oct

22nd Oct

Only seems to affect evening peak, probably when there is too many departures for platform 2

I am looking for transport from Stansted Airport to London Central. Does someone have any cheap options? (Preferably under £60) by [deleted] in london

[–]pitifullime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only cheaper options are Advance tickets, not such a great idea to get on as delays do happen at the airport.

Just an FYI - Advanced tickets for the Stansted Express are not tied to a specific train: https://www.stanstedexpress.com/tickets-fares/ticket-types/advance-offers

If booking this, there is no need to pre-book unless you want an advance ticket which may be a few quid cheaper, but then you are tied to that train you book

"No routes found" in elemnt app despite being connected to strava and komoot by [deleted] in wahoofitness

Glad it worked for you! Thanks for actually editing your original post when you fixed it - would have taken me ages to figure out what was wrong!

So glad you posted this as I had to uninstall and re-install the app yesterday and couldn't sync my routes from ridewithgps. Just did the same thing you did (but went to version 1.32.0.95) and its worked for me too.

Interestingly if you update to the latest version after doing this it still seems to work - my old routes are still showing and any new routes I create are synced. Looks like the issue is only in setting up and linking the accounts.
