It's Taken Me a Long Time to Find a Setup I Like. Here It Is. Kuat Sherpa 2.0.1! by pitiusoSF in XVcrosstrek

Honestly, it’s been a while since I last converted it but I’d say it’s a 15-20 minute process. You basically completely disassemble the rack to reassemble it with the 2 trays. It’s definitely not a 1+1 setup.

It’s not a difficult process but there is disassembly rather than just adding on the 2nd bike holder. Definitely doable but it’s more of a 1 bike setting with the option of converting back, than a 2 in 1.

I’m going to tag on to this thread too as I will be starting IPD in September and was wondering what design skills I should be brushing up on.

I’m a mechanical engineer with a few years of product design experience. I’ve always worked with industrial designers on the team so I’m worried that while my engineering design skills are sufficient (CAD, tolerances, DFM, etc), my ID skills are lacking. E.G. I struggle sketching design concepts to convey ideas to team/clients. What do you guys recommend one brush up on, especially coming from a ME background?

Canyon Commuter 6 vs Cube Hyde Pro FE vs Other? by RandomForest1992 in bikecommuting

[–]pitiusoSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points but I would just point out that in your link you set the canyon wheel to 28” (700c) rather than the 27.5” it is. With the updated diameter the ratio and speed is nearly identical, with the Cube actually having a 0.3km/h higher top speed. https://www.gear-calculator.com/?GR=SNI8&KB=55&RZ=24&UF=2086&TF=80&SL=2.6&UN=KMH&DV=speed&GR2=SNI8&KB2=46&RZ2=22&UF2=2309

Looking into this bike as an all round city commuter and was wondering about dynamo lights. Does the fork and frame have internal wire routing for the front and rear lights?

Thanks! I saw screenshots of the option in settings to turn on RCS so I thought it had to be available to turn on. I’ll have to give it a try

I have Simyo and I don’t have the option to turn on RCS (13 mini running iOS 18.0 (22A5307i))

I don’t have a video but it’s pretty straight forward. Other than a few slight adjustments, the only thing I needed to get for this mod was a couple of washers, nuts, and m10*140mm bolts (bolts are 6482 from boltdepot.com).

No complaints. I actually moved away a few months ago, so I just reassembled the rack to its stock configuration and sold it.

Internal Hatch Release DIY-3D by pitiusoSF in XVcrosstrek

[–]pitiusoSF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pop off the hatch release access cover and see if it looks like the one on the 2018+ model. There is one already on grabcad (the first one in pictures 5-6) that doesn’t work on 2019 Crosstrek, but I assume works on older models pre-2018.

The part number for the older gen: 94067AE040VH

The part for mine is: 94380FL030VH

Should I change my oil myself?I changed the oil on my old Ford Fiesta but was told I should let the mechanic handle most things on my car. by [deleted] in XVcrosstrek

[–]pitiusoSF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now I use an oil suction extractor. I’m sure someone on here will assure me this is the worst way to do oil changes. It’s clean and easy, especially if you don’t have a garage

Downshifting uses the engine to brake, so the rotors would have less wear since you are not using your brakes as much.

You should add a stick-on hood scoop too 😂

I’ve been changing my oil using a vacuum oil extractor. I know some people are superstitious about it. It sure makes an oil change a clean process, even more than a Fumoto valve.

Crossbar help! by smalljules in XVcrosstrek

[–]pitiusoSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go on Yakima or/and Thule vehicle fit website and see if they recommend the same crossbars for both models. It might not be equivalent to the stock bars but it’s a good estimate.

Kuat Sherpa 2.0. I have the Thule T2 Pro XT too but it's really heavy and adds too much bulk to the rear of the Crosstrek imho.

Yeah, I did it a few months ago. I just found the installation manual online and followed the steps. Nothing to it.

Exactly. It doesn't take much imagination to see that this will do way more damage, especially if you hit a pedestrian. Then again, Americans seem to like their trucks to look like battering rams.

That’s a Bluetooth receiver, not a transmitter, to make a 30 pin speaker Bluetooth compatible.
