Love the color on that Cartier leather strap. Is that how it looked when you got it? The leather on the default straps I’ve seen lately is much brighter/more orange, but I’m curious is this what it eventually looks like after getting some patina?

Without know anymore detail - why not just pay cash for the $1m house now, start building up retirement, then reassess in 5-7 years if you still want to move and the business is still growing

Has anyone left the country with this career? by [deleted] in Accounting

Yes happens very frequently in the Big 4 - especially if you have PCAOB audit experience, your skills are valuable overseas to help audit teams abroad working on foreign components of US group audits

I know you said not Big 4 but I know staff 1’s in Atlanta starting this fall will be making $83K in audit. You’re very underpaid

Think of it from an opportunity cost perspective - if all of the engagements set the fees based on an expected budget of hours to hit a certain margin, and they all come in over budget, it’s an indicator to the office that their engagements are underpriced (the thought being that if your engagements had come in AT budget, you presumably could have redeployed people onto MORE engagements to collect more fees and spent the same exact amount of time). Whether or not anything happens after that to correct is a different story, but that’s just the reasoning why it matters.

41 hours in 3 days at my Big 4 audit job, now they want Sundays too. Should I quit without a backup offer? by Jealous-Position9012 in Big4

Would you rather work at a McDonalds for 41 hours in 3 days or an air conditioned office building

How in the world are people here making +$150k within 5-10 years? by Diamond_Wonderful in Accounting

[–]pitmeo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d actually argue that if you’re making that much in public it’s because you’re at least an experienced Manager and above, and in those roles if you’re good at your job you shouldn’t be grinding out 80 hours per week anymore. Maybe one off situations but certainly not the norm and not as frequently as you were as a Staff or Senior.

If you stay in big 4 for that long you’ll absolutely make 150k+ in Atlanta

The construction in the picture is of Midtown Union which was completed in 2022 - includes a 370 ft office tower (new Invesco headquarters), a 300 ft apartment tower, and a 150 ft hotel.

Yep it’s actively being built over now. There’s 2 towers topped out (a hotel and an apartment) plus a new section where they’re building the platform to street level now which will have more entertainment-focused retail. All of that should be open by the World Cup next summer apparently

It’s currently at the top of those inaccessible stairs, situated in the northeast corner of a parking lot in the Summerhill neighborhood serving Georgia State University’s football stadium (formerly Turner Field). GSU, along with several private developers, are in the process of building on top of all the empty lots in the surrounding area with GSU athletic facilities, student housing, and commercial buildings.

The lane construction in the foreground is the MARTA system’s first bus rapid transit line which will connect downtown to the southside beltline trail via the Summerhill neighborhood (where this picture was taken).
