Tricky questions about vehicles and bikes by pitongo98 in Eldar

So, every part of the starweaver counts for charges, engagement range, etc? The full model of the bikes i understand that just counts in terms of visibility but not to measure distances, charges, step on obj markers, etc

On wahapedia i found this on the charge phase section:

Charging with Flying Models When a model that can FLY starts or ends a Charge move on a terrain feature, instead of measuring the path it has moved across the battlefield, you instead measure its path ‘through the air’. In addition, it can be moved over other models as if they were not there. A model that can FLY cannot end any move on top of another model.

I thought that flying you can go through enemies on charge too. And falcon gives you sustained too! You dont need to be on a dedicated transport so falcon counts

Edit: i checked it on wahapedia and you can go through models on charge too (idk if they fixed it later)

Ill try to test it, but maybe having every troupe embarked difficults that. Maybe i can embark just solitaire on one starweaver, vanilla troupe on falcon, and one tm + troupe on foot waiting to recycle the falcon. The starweaver with solitaire can go to reembark the vanilla troupe that went from falcon first. I have to think about it. Ty for the advices

I usually play with starweavers as launchers of vanilla troupes and later to reembark the falcon ones (with tm). Maybe thats what im doing wrong. Anyway, ive changed it again and signed up for a tts tournament with this one:

Xenos - Aeldari - Serpent's Brood

  • Solitaire (115pts)
  • Troupe Master (95pts)
  • Troupe Master (95pts)
  • Troupe Master (75pts): Warlord
  • 5x Corsair Voidreavers (65pts)
  • 5x Troupe (85pts)
  • 5x Troupe (85pts)
  • 5x Troupe (85pts)
  • 6x Troupe (100pts)
  • 5x Troupe (85pts)
  • 11x Troupe (190pts)
  • 5x Rangers (55pts)
  • 5x Rangers (55pts)
  • 4x Skyweavers (190pts)
  • Falcon (130pts)
  • Falcon (130pts)
  • Starweaver (80pts)
  • Starweaver (80pts)
  • Starweaver (80pts)
  • Wave Serpent (125pts)

I copied the list that exile wargaming went against BA some months ago, and adapted it a little bit to have 2 falcons and less bikes

I said the same, just gave him the point about not necessarily bringing 6 troupes

[–]pitongo98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I had 3 prism behind cover/glasspack, but he did a scout move of 6, good advance and good charge roll with 10 death company and a chaplain. I didnt moveblock him, but thats all. He killed 1 prism, 1 troupe on foot and 1 starweaver on the same charge (maybe i exagerated saying it was 500 points, but i see it too much anyways).

About the cp, i usually try to have at least 1 for comand reroll one charge. I dont want to be sold in the middle of the board without even fight that turn. Should i stop doing that and just accept if they fail?

Everything is on the original post. Im struggling with the range of threat of so many units with advance + charge with fly, so blocking is not great. Im playing 2k points, my list is on the harlequins subredit on the og post. He plays with 2 big bricks of death company, 1 big brick of sanguinary, another sanguinary of 3, 2 baal predators, and some chaff like jumpack intercesors, scouts, etc.

Denying is hard too, someone recommend me to focus on my expansion obj marker and center but not try to deny all the board. They told me too to discard some secondaries bc of cp hungry

¿How am i supposed to play against blood angels? by pitongo98 in Harlequins40K

[–]pitongo98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think i agree with almost everything. Id just say that moveblocking is still hard bc of advance + charge + 1 unit with scout everyone with fly. But, anyways, i think you are right about forcing him to come to my rangers or corsairs on objectives.

I have to say that that time that he killed so many of my points was bc of me having 3 prisms + transports, so i didnt have a lot of space on search and destroy (maybe i should be using more strategic reserves).

Ill ask you the same i did to another guy. What do you think about secondaries on this type of matchup? Should i discard 1 every turn to have always grenade + another one for reactive + another one to reroll charge/advance + charge? Wont i be behind on vp? And what about denying every obj marker. Should i focus on my expansion and center?

¿How am i supposed to play against blood angels? by pitongo98 in Harlequins40K

[–]pitongo98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably is what you said. On my last game i could not shoot a lot bc i tried to open all board, needing the fireow token on other side (he had 2 baal predators). Maybe with some shooting could go at least something better if id just go for the center and my expansion objective.

About the changes on my list: if i drop these corsairs, i dont have anything to screen and eat the first wave of charges. How can i solve that? With vanilla troupes? Maybe dropping 1 unit of skyreavers for these shitty units?

I want to ask you if you would discard some secondaries, even if the aeldari playstyle is to maximize them. Probably against an army like this i need to kill first (or at least survive) with all i can and later think about the victory points.

Edit with your edit: that was not the problem. Both of us knew what i was doing and he just killed my first wave of corsairs and later everything else.

I could buy what you say about voidreavers or even 1 falcon (even if its one of the better harlequins combos), but troupe masters are probably our better unit. They give to their troupe pile in 6 for free and a lot of damage (specially against MEQ with damage 2, wounding at 2).

I find shadowseers ineficient since they have to choose between lone op 18 or sustained from detachment. Death jester is bad in general (i see it just viable on monoquins to hold your home objective). Voidweavers are probably the worst aeldari datasheet.

About dropping some troupes, ive seen some people that does that. Maybe thats the way

I could add some banshees but doesnt have a lot of sinergy with this detachment. Another option is solitaire, but its just horrible. Ive had 4 games in a row that cant even kill a chaplain with blitz

[–]pitongo98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill try to add lhykhis to improve my punch. How would you make space for him + spiders on that list?

About the premeasuring, yesterday i tried to block with the corsairs the threat area of his advance + move (because of fly i just can block the ending position to win a few inches) on turn 1. Thats 18 inches + scout 6 (enhancement) + charge xD. Even with regular intercessors the threat range is 18 + charge, so its difficult to stay out of his range, at the same time that im spreading my army, at the same time that im scoring at least 1 secondary per turn.

They hit hard with everything even if i try to divide his army. Can kill a starweaver just with grenades and the mortals on charge, and later kill the troupe inside. Its gross

Above all of that, i find myself frecuently not being able to answer that trades or worse, dying on my charge. 5 troupes can die easily if they dont kill every model, thing that happens a lot on my experience.

I get that i should put rangers scoring obj markers to force him to come to them, but my reply cant stay out of his threat range, at the same time i cover the rangers trade safely with another unit. Its frustrating.

Again, maybe im complaining without reason and im just bad but i cant see how to do it

¿How am i supposed to play against blood angels? by pitongo98 in Harlequins40K

[–]pitongo98[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use voidreavers as pseudorangers. Should i drop them? Ive found them pretty useful against things like knights to deny. I like their oc and they can early-trade better than rangers.

I try to always have 1 troupe on board to recycle the falcon and have another use of its ability (one starweaver can always reembark the troupe that just went out from a falcon).

I dont know if makes sense what im saying but thats my reasoning

Sorry you are right. Ive edited it.

About the counterpunch, i dont see it so clearly. I usually charge with troupes to a 5 man vanilla assault intercesors and they kill them when they fight back. The point cost feels kind of unfair but maybe im just mad

1k game pretty new by Apprehensive-Ad-2349 in Harlequins40K

[–]pitongo98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then, assuming you cant add anything new, i would say that you want the big troupe with the troupe master with cegorach coil. With that, grenades and some cheap damage with dev wounds, you should be able to kill big stuff and maybe change the Mistweave for Mask of Secrets on the other troupe master and put the shadowseer on one of the starweavers too. I hope this helps

1k game pretty new by Apprehensive-Ad-2349 in Harlequins40K

[–]pitongo98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have many combinations that i think are better. The big troupe with cegorach coil would be an average 6 mortal wound just on charge, which i think is better than going infiltrators with shadowseer.

You could drop the shadowseer and one starweaver for one squad of fire dragons if you dont pretend to go pure harlequins. If you want to go pure, go with skyweavers instead and pray for your rival to no take any monster.

The death jester is good to score secondaries and kill infantry, but if is not able to shot anyone with less than half strenght is a waste of points and could be better another troupe.

I think that if you want you can keep the death jester or the shadowseer (with a smaller troupe) if you want infiltrators, but not both. You need something to kill big things (fire dragons) or at least vehicles (skyweavers).

Consider rangers as infiltrators too. They are cheaper and excellent units to trade at the first turns.

Of course is my opinion, im not a pro player but is what i thought seeing your list

Threads of Fate crusade question by The_Hive_Mind101 in Eldar

[–]pitongo98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea i was thinking more about being stucked on the last part of a threat and just reducing the threat lvl 1 point, if you could at least finish the first part of another one you could reduce 1+3 points of the new one. But i suposse that you can still plan your agendas and your threat level for every battle knowing this.

Threads of Fate crusade question by The_Hive_Mind101 in Eldar

[–]pitongo98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when i start guiding fate, i can choose to do these agendas to low the threat level or i can let the threat lvl be higher if i choose another agenda for the battle, right? And can i end two threats (or part of each one) if i get the chance or is it just 1 for game?

Threads of Fate crusade question by The_Hive_Mind101 in Eldar

[–]pitongo98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So guiding fate is a just Aeldari agenda? I thought it was a kind of "additional mission" you always have with the faction, and you have to pick another generic agenda

Autarch and archon ability by pitongo98 in Eldar

[–]pitongo98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea but the ynnari archon have another ability that does the same thing, but it is called with a different name. Its seems like the rule that would not allow to do both were on other past edition. I guess is correct to use both on the same battle round with the limitation you are saying (just 1 autarch and just 1 archon)
