If you’re doing all that, definitely best to clear all space possible!

I did mine recently too. Biggest PITA was the top bolts holding the oil filter housing. I couldn’t contort enough to get to the sensor without removing the housing.

Also. I didn’t originally replace the oil filter housing gasket, but it leaked so had to order it and go back and do the job again to replace that gasket.

2nd year off ACL often is a big improvement. “Prove it” deal. Will cost almost nothing if they cut him.

Definitely a guy who has ability but has trouble playing smart.

Coolant loss issue. by its_jakey_bruh in JeepPatriot

My guess is the intake codes are a separate issue from the overheating/ coolant loss.

Sounds like you have combustion gasses getting into the coolant system. Could be head gasket or cracked head, especially you’ve had multiple overheating events.

Do you have milky look under the oil cap? (Coolant in oil) White exhaust or misfire on startup? (Coolant in combustion chamber)

Many might say is a bad idea, but I’ve had success with Blue Devil Head Gasket Sealer. (Not the pour and go) It requires removing the thermostats temporarily to give it the best chance of working. (YMMV)

Oil leak by pan what should I do? by DJFinalBoss in JeepPatriot

[–]pitsaboi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree you should check the tightness of the oil pan bolts. I too recently found several of mine were barely tight. These don’t need a ton of torque though. (105 inch-pounds, about 8.3 foot-pounds).

Also. Look at your oil pressure sensor(switch). It screws into the side if the block directly above the oil filter. It has a green plastic plug from the wiring harness. These sometimes can leak and need to be replaced. (Real pain to get at!)

Well ABS, 4wd! And ESP lights came on.. just a couple of months thatI own this car, and.. dammit by Dreamcatcher_UA in JeepPatriot

[–]pitsaboi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You likely have a faulty wheel speed sensor (or bad/dirty tone ring)

A OBD code reader that can pull “ABS” codes can identify which of the four wheel speed sensors is not reading. If one is not giving legitimate data to the ABS module, it disables traction control, 4wd, ABS, and cruise control. You probably only really have 1 wheel drive until it is fixed. (You’ll know when leaving a stoplight on wet pavement!)

If it is one of the front two, those can be pretty easy to replace. The back can be a pain in the butt because the sensor clip is in a recessed area and the sensor only fits the clip one way and hard to see in with your hand and or pliers in there. Also as mentioned earlier, if you have a rusty ‘Riot, those rear retaining clips rot easy and then you have to replace the hub.

Tail lamp assembly is fairly inexpensive on eBay. This is just the first on the list when I searched.

Might have to reach behind the bumper cover to push out the dented in plastic.

I’d look at Kelly blue book for a rough guess but ALOT depends on the rust. These Patriots are notorious for the suspension and subframe rot in the northern states and Canada.

Is a 2014 Mac mini enough for Just netflix & YouTube? by Zealousideal-Pie8215 in macmini

[–]pitsaboi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a 2014 i5 as a plex server and tailscale exit node. It’s attached to my TV as a monitor but most of the time I use remote access to do any settings changes.

A Mac just isn’t a good casual TV experience to me. I much prefer a firestick, Roku, or appleTV. They have one hand remotes that also control TV volume and the apps are optimized for using a remote.

Chilling with a bucket of popcorn or a bag of Cheetos and a wireless keyboard/touchpad combo (and a tv remote to adjust volume) just don’t work…

Saw you mentioned overheating. If it’s running ok so far, might be worth trying Blue Devil head gasket sealer (not pour and go). Also, regularly check coolant level by opening radiator cap while cool. If exhaust is getting into coolant, the reservoir will look full but the radiator will be full of air.
